Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will it fit sony a 6000?

A: I love this lens... It fit and works wonderful with the Sony@6000. The colors you get from this lens are amazing.Love it...

Q: 2. Will this fit my Olympus E-M5?

A: Yes, the Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens for MFT cameras will work on the Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera.

Q: 3. Does this lens will work on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera?

A: Yes! I bought it for that reason.

Q: 4. Would I benefit by using this just for stills?

A: While this is a Cinema lens with Geared Focus and Aperture Control Rings, you will still be able to shoot still photos with it.

Q: 5. What are some good ND filters as I have purchased one but don't have anything to help fight being overexposed while shooting outside at a wide open aperture in order to get nice bokeh?I am currently shooting on the BMPCC.

A: This lens takes 67mm filters. I suggest for video an ND 9 which is 3 stops of light blockage.Neutral Density filters traditionally are rated: ND 3 is 1 stop, ND 6 is 2 stops, ND 9 is 3 stops and ND 1.2 is 4 stops. You can buy separate filters for each of these strengths or you may choose a variable ND. These work by rotating a sandwich of two polarizing filters. The great convenience is that you have all your ND filters in just one. I prefer solid ND over variable ND filters for their evenness of effect. However, there are others who are completely satisfied with variable ND's. Q: 6. Would this work on the Fujifilm X-T2?

A: The Fuji camera has the Fuji X lens mount, this lens is M43 mount, so you would need an adaptor; I don't think one exists. Although this Rokinon says it covers APS-C sensors, it may be impossible to get the M43 lens close enough to the sensor with an adaptor (which may be why adaptors don't seem to exist). So, short answer: no.

Q: 7. Is there any disadvantage to buying this lens and using for stills? I like the clickless aperture for video and don't mind the non-fixed f stops.

A: The disadvantage is using it in scenarios where you have to change focus very often and needing metadata. I'm using this lens primarily for stills...something like 80/20 photos/videos. I have zero issues with the lens. While an auto lens would have been helpful--and very much more expensive for a fast lens--I pretty much always shoot on a tripod, aperture priority (or manual) using the full range of T/f stops, at ISO 100. I certainly like the smooth cine T stops (whatever they are called). This lens compliments my use of late 70's Mamiya SLR lenses (using an adapter) on my Sony A6000. It does take a bit of time and practice shooting without auto functions (just like the old days with film). My main use is in real estate, architecture, and landscape imagery.I'm very please with this lens and I would recommend it for the budget conscious or patient photo/videographer.

Q: 8. does this lens autofocus?

A: No, you have to do it manually.

Q: 9. Works on the g7 I assume?

A: Works GREAT on the G7! One of my favorite lenses.

Q: 10. Will this lens fit on a Canon 6d? Full frame sensor.

A: No. I order it by mistake.

Works as promised. Quality glass in an inexpensive lens is worth the trade off of being fully manual. Manual focus is easy when in camera focus peaking is enabled. There is a symbol on the focus ring that resembles an "L" lying on its back. Set the focus ring so the dot lines up below the vertical part of the "L" and everything between about 18 inches and infinity is acceptably sharp.

I just set focus at 3' to infinity and shoot. It works great and provides clear focused images as an 18 mm equvalent on my a6500 crop frame camera. I use it primarily for indoor family shots and outdoor landscapes.

Very Happy with Rokinon products I purchased already. I have 8mm and 12mm. Both are very well made, exceptional mechanics and optics. There's some minor CA but that happens only in some circumstances and light condition. Excellent value for the money. B & H always on top of the game, the true professionals in handing their business to everyone's satisfaction. Thanks, guys.

I've been using this lens for about nine months now, mostly for real estate work. I can honestly say that in terms of build quality and performance, it's the best value for a lens that I've ever seen. It's got a nice heft to it for being mostly plastic, and seems like it can stand up to reasonable abuse. And the metal mount clicks firmly into the camera (at least on an X-T1).

My only minor gripe is that being a fairly small lens, there's almost nowhere to grab it without touching the focus or aperture rings. And the focus ring while being smooth and firm, can be accidentally moved with a fairly light touch. I solve this by securing it with a little piece of gaff tape once my focus is set, as I usually shoot at infinity.

You can't go wrong with this lens.

For commercial property photography this is a fantastic lens.   Manual focus is not an issue with the Fuji Focus Peak and realistically for commercial property it essentially stays on infinity anyway.

Beyond commercial use, I find it just a really fun lens to add creative touches to even portraiture.  When I used FF DSLR’s, I used a 12-24 for unique portraits but moved away from that...well it’s back in my portfolio now!

Great value and sharp.  What else do you need?

I converted from Canon DSLR to FujiFilm mirrorless, so I can use the Rokinon 12mm lens. And OMG, I never made a better choice. This lens is beyond amazing, it's a gift from Rokinon in price and capability. One lens from Rokinon is three lens in one, this Rokinon 12mm will replace three Canon/Nikon lenses.

Do the research yourself and you'll fine it's better in quality, potential, and most of all $$$$ price. The other lens competitors can't match or compete in price with Rokinon.

There is no single lens Canon/Nikon makes or would sell, that the Rokinon 12mm lens can do.

I purchased this lens several months ago while on sale but hadn’t had the opportunity to use it until last week at Arches and Canyonlands NPS. I was throughly impressed with this small no frills lens. After setting the camera shutter to operate with this lens all that was required was to determine infinity for focus and every shot at that setting came out perfect. I did not have a single frame to reject due to focus or aperture settings. Worked very well during early morning star shoots on my M5. One of my favorite M mount lenses now.
