Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will a sirui TYC10 quick release plate work with the sirui 20x ball head?

A: Yes. I have the TY-C10 on my camera for use with the 20X ball head.

Q: 2. I've got an L bracket on my Canon 5d iii, what plate would I use with this setup?

A: You can use the included quick release plate with the Canon 5D Mark III and L bracket.

Q: 3. Does the G-20x ball head fit onto the P-204 monopod??

A: The G-20X will mount on the P-204 Monopod.

Q: 4. What is the difference between the Sirui G-20X Ball Head and the Sirui E-20 Ball Head?

A: The Sirui G-20X Ball Head supports 44 lb (20 kg). The Sirui E-20 Ball Head with TY-50E Plate is a smaller head that supports 26.5 lb (12 kg).

Q: 5. What is the base diameter in mm?

A: I'm sorry, I misread the question. The base diameter is 54mm.

Q: 6. Can the clamp be removed from the ball stem? I may want to change to a lever-release clamp, as offered by Really Right Stuff. It appears the K40 clamp can be unscrewed, but can't tell about the K30 or K20.

A: It can definitely be removed, because I own this ballhead and have removed the clamp. But you will need to heat the screw with a small propane torch or even a soldering pen. The screw has been fastened using a loctite style adhesive which will require a fair amount of heat to undo.

Q: 7. Is the plate that attaches to the camera made out of plastic or metal?

A: The quick release plate included with the Sirui G-20X Ball Head is metal.

Q: 8. Is this ball head sturdy enough for a 400 mm lens or is it better to go with the K-30X?

A: I have used this head (on the Sirui T-2205X legs) fairly extensively with both 400 and 600mm EFL primes lenses (200 and 300 mm on micro four thirds) and also with a 200-600mm EFL zoom. I have had fairly good results with all of them. I also own a big aluminum Gitzo 320 tripod with a couple of much larger heads (this combination is MUCH heavier than my Sirui carbon tripod and K-20X head). Not surprisingly, the results are usually better with this heavier rig and if you plan to shoot 400mm or longer a lot, especially on a large body (I shoot with Olympus EM1 and Panasonic GH3 bodies most of the time), you might be better off to go heavier. If you shoot mostly shorter focal lengths you should be OK with the K-20X, assuming the tripod legs are not too light and the camera/lens is not too heavy.I use my heavy (almost ten pounds w/ a head!) Gitzo whenever I am willing to carry it, which means roadside and on short hikes. I often shoot several miles from the road and that's where the Sirui carbon tripod and K-20X head get most of their use. With careful technique (one of the biggest factors in shooting super-telephoto - always use a remote release, experiment with image stabilization to find the best results and generally be meticulous) and a willingness to accept a somewhat lower percentage of tack sharp images this head will get the job done. For its size I doubt you will find any head that is noticeably sturdier but bigger heads and bigger legs do make a difference, both in stability and in weight. So, the real question is how much are you willing to carry? A heavy rig plus a lighter one gives you the ability to tailor your tripod to the situation but the K-20X on an appropriate set of legs is very versatile and if you have just one that would be a good choice.

Q: 9. Will this ball head fit the Induro CT213?

A: I thik yes, its standard mount

Q: 10. Will the peak design capture standard plate work with this head? Thanks!

A: HelloI do have a peak design standard plate and yes it will work although it is not ideal as the plate is not as long as the ball head is, so use caution to ensure safety pin has caught the peak design plate.
