Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. hi is this the new rode video mic pro powered by 2A battery?

A: No. 9V.

Q: 2. Can you use this on cameras like the Nikon D90 or the Nikon 750?

A: Yes, this shotgun mic kit would work very well with the Nikon D90 or 750, connecting directly into the 3.5mm external mic jack on the camera.

Q: 3. Does this mic work with a Canon 7D?

A: Yes it does. Just as a word of advice, push the db up on the mic, and manually move the audio level down on your camera. The compression is terrible on the camera, and you'll get a hiss if you don't.

Q: 4. how would i mount this to a 1/4 20 mount?

A: To mount the Rode VideoMic Pro to a 1/4 -20 threading requires a reducer bushing.

Q: 5. Is it good to go on a boom with zoom h5, for short films

A: You can use this mic on top of a camera or on a boom pole. The closer to the subject, the better audio you will have.

Q: 6. Can the hot shoe be removed and what thread is used for attachment?

A: It's a cold shoe and it cannot be removed. The thread inside is a standard 3/8".

Q: 7. Does this have reverse polarity protection?

A: NOT as far as I know. Never had an issue with the cable though. Just make sure you dont force it into the ptap Connection

Q: 8. does this microphone fit on Sony A99 Mark II

A: Sure will.

Q: 9. Can this be connected and used as a PC microphone?

A: Technically yes because it runs off of a 9v battery. The proper way to do it would be to plug it into an audio interface first, but you could just run it into a microphone input on a computer. Then, set your system preferences to that mic as the input.

Q: 10. Does the Rycote Windjammer work with the foam shield on? If not, is it hard to take it off? I remember borrowing one and having the foam be impossible to take off.

A: Yes, the Rycote Windjammer is custom fit to slide over the foam. Once it is over the foam, there is a piece of velcro to fasten it snugly in place. I bought mine to use on an Alaska trip and very pleased with the results.
