That would seem like a slight waste of space if the opening was only 1 /27mm long. A: The depth of the hole in the foam is a little over an inch. If you pull the rubber gasket back after the mic is inserted, the fur will stretch to cover an additional half inch or so. You MIGHT be able to get it all the way to your needed extra inch if you really jam it, but you also might end up ripping the stitching over time. Either way, you'd only be covering that inch with fur, not with both fur and foam. For small pencil mics, like my beloved Audix SCX-1, the WS8 works very well. But if you need 2 inches of depth within the foam, this probably isn't the ideal solution for you.(On a side note, here's one other thing to consider about the WS8. It looks exactly like a tribble, and you'll find actresses tend to have an irresistible urge to pet it when it's near them. I'll let you decide whether that's a positive or a negative.)

A: Unfortunately the difference in size between the two mics will not allow you to utilize the same windshield for both the VideoMic Pro and NTG2. This is designed for the NTG 1, 2 and 4 microphones. For the VideoMic Pro the Rycote Windjammer is recommended. See B&H # RYMWRVMPR. Rode also overs a slip over windshield designed for the mic. B&H # RODEADCTVMPR

A: I use mine with an Aston starlight rycote mic clip which looks to be almost the same size. I have to have the mic cable input inside of the clip (I hope that makes sense) in order to get the windshield all of the way on but it does work.

A: We have not tested the Rode DeadWombat with the Rycote Windshield #4 (B&H # RYWS4) to be able to confirm compatibility, but it seems like it would be larger than desired for the Windshield #4. As a gauge for comparison, the Rycote Windjammer WJ4 (B&H # RYWJ4) is designed specifically for use with the Rycote Windshield #4. The WJ4 has a length of 500mm and an outer diameter of 125mm. The Rode DeadWombat is slightly longer and much wider than the Rycote WJ4. The DeadWombat has a length of 515mm, an inner depth of 508mm, and an outer diameter of 170mm. Rycote notes that a Windjammer is most effective when it fits tightly over the Windshield. Their Windjammers are designed so that their approximate length is about 50mm longer than the corresponding Windshield.
