The MVIO ENC-4AUD SD-SDI to Composite Video Converter with Analog Audio Outputs from Gra-Vue is identical in functionality to the XIO 9020ENC-4AUD card, but is housed in a standalone, 1U half-rack chassis. It converts one SDI signal to two analog composite video signals, and outputs one SDI signal. Additionally, two analog audio stereo signals are extracted from the SDI signal. The de-embedded audio group can be selected though DIP switches. Also selectable is the de-embedded mode of audio channels, such as following input channels, crossing output, and mixing output. 625i50 (PAL) and 525i60 (NTSC) format input signals are supported.

The MVIO ENC-4AUD provides automatic signal equalization for up to 200M (Belden 1694A), which can improve the signal quality and reduce the signal loss caused by long distance transmission of input source. LED lights on the unit indicate the status of input signal and power supply, in order to let the user know the status immediately. It supports SNMP and can be real-time managed and monitored by XIO NET, the Network Management Module, via Ethernet.

Q: 1. I have a video switcher with Program out via SDI, I am told there is embedded audio running out with the SDI video signal. Will this unit work for my application? I want my SDI PRGM output from my switcher to feed into a standard LCD TV monitor via HDMI with video and sound. I want to set up client monitors in the Greenroom down the hall .. All my SDI feed does for my consumer HDMI TV is video only...Thanks

A: Hi James, This is Jules from Symbiosis, Decimator's Master Distributor for your territory. The Decimator 2 will all you to pass both video and embedded audio from the SDI input to the HDMI output for monitoring on your LCD TV. Just in case you need it, there is also a pair of analog line level outputs for driving an amplifier or set of active speakers as well. I hope this helps. Jules

Q: 2. I want to convert SDI signal from my NTSC camera to an SDI Signal in PAL (for both audio and video) Will this converter do that?

A: I'm afraid not. The Decimator 2s SDI loop output will repeat whatever signal is going into the SDI input, so while the HDMI signal would be converted to PAL the SDI loop-out would remain NTSC. To do a conversion and come out in a different format through SDI, you could use the MD-HX, MD-Cross or MD-DUCC. All of these will take NTSC SDI in and output PAL SDI with embedded audio.

Q: 3. Would this work with a projector I'm using it for Apple TV and cable box

A: If the projector has a composite video input, then I believe that it would.I used this device to connect an Apple TV to an older TV that does not have an HDMI input.

Q: 4. Can I use this product to do external video monitoring with Avid Media Composer 8?

A: NLE, Non-Linear Editing programs, are not meant to be used in such fashion. We would suspect if it were even possible to see live video, it would not be a reliable connection. We recommend sending the video signal to a proper monitor.

Q: 5. Can I use this device to get stereo audio output from my Panasonic TV HDMI output? I have no other way to hook the audio from my TV to my stereo system. I've tried optical DACs that say they will work but they don't.

A: The HDMI jack on the TV is very likely an input, not an output. It is intended to connect FROM a cable box, DVD player etc. TO your TV and not the other way around. Your television probably has analog audio out jacks (red and white), an optical digital output and maybe a coax digital output (orange). Your owners manual will identify the input and output jacks and they should be labeled HDMI 1 in or audio out or similar wording. The red/white should almost certainly connect your TV to the amp or better, connect one of the cable box outputs to the amp.

Q: 6. Does this unit include the power supply?

A: Yes, this includes the AJA DWP-U-R1 Worldwide Power Supply for AJA Mini-Converters B&H # AJDWPUR1.

Q: 7. My SDI input is 1080p 29.97. Will this output S-Video?

A: No, it does not. use this one. Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI to Analog B&H # BLSDIAMC.

Q: 8. Where is it made?

A: The Country of Origin for this product is China.

Q: 9. Will this convert S-Video?

A: Yes, this product can be used with to convert Component, Composite or S-Video.

Q: 10. Will the '16:9 to 16:9 anamorphic' analog setting output a SD signal with no pillar or letterboxing added to a 16:9 source?

A: When using the DECIMATOR 2 3G/HD/SD-SDI to HDMI Converter with Built-In NTSC/PAL Downscaler & Analog Audio Outputs, you can configure the Decimator 2 to output analogue SD signals as a 16x9 anamorphic signal as well as options for letterboxed and straight 4:3.

Solidly built, compact, and works great.  I use them to convert the component video out on my Sony FX1 HDV camcorders to SDI that I run to a video switch and SDI recorder.

I'm a big AJA fan, so I was hesitant buy a couple of Blackmagic Mini Converters... I'm very happy I did. Conversion looks great and I love the USB interface to adjust settings. They include the power adapter ($40 savings), although the connection doesn't lock like the AJA does.

We used these with the Canon XH A1 which just has component HD out. Worked perfectly to help us get a camera in centerfield for a broadcast we were doing. Plug and play and the picture was perfect. Certainly would purchase again and highly recommend.
