The 6 x 6" Graduated Sunset 1 Filter from Tiffen is an exciting filter. It enhances reality, adding a touch of subtlety or drama to the image. Sometimes it is also desirable to add color to part of the photograph. For example, to add an orange/yellow tint to bump up the effect and punch of the sky. Tiffen Color Graduated filters are half-color, half-clear, with a graduated transition for blending into the scene. Q: 8. What is the purpose of the Focus Hold Button?

A: For other lenses with this feature, the instruction manual states that when the Focus Hold button is pressed, autofocus function is suspended and the focus is fixed for shooting. The function of the focus Hold button can be changed on cameras with Custom Function capability. In practice, when you are in Autofocus mode, once you achieve the focus at your desired focus distance, you would press and hold the Focus Hold button. This stops the camera or the lens from changing the focus distance, so the camera will stay focused at the point until you release the Focus Hold button.

Q: 9. I'm asking this since there is not tripod mount for this lens. Just wondering if anybody is using this with the a7 (not a7ii) and a tripod. Does the a7 feel solid enough to support this lens?

A: Yes I use it with the A7R on a tripod and I do not have a problem with the weight. Nevertheless it is not a sharp lens, it is actually very bad for its price. Images shot with a longer focal length than 120mm are soft. At 240mm is extremely soft. And since there is no way to make a microadjustment on the camera (it should not need it because it is a mirrorless), I have not found a way to fix this. I will try to sell it and buy something else. I am very disappointed at the poor quality of this lens. If you want to see a comparison between a 70-200mm Canon lens and this 24-240mm lens let me know.

Q: 10. Can you turn off the lens internal stabilization? With the new A7rII and its own built in stabilization, I would expect the two systems to fight each other unless you could turn one off.. I'm sure you can in the body but would prefer to turn off the lens.

A: The two stabilization systems do not fight each other. They recognize each other and compensates for it. You do not have to turn of the lens stabilization.Hope this helps.
