Q: 1. This drive shows up when I select USB-Powered in the search criteria. Actually, several AC-powered drives show up in the results when I select USB-Powered . You should fix that.Oh, it has to be a question? OK, are you _trying_ to be misleading, or was it accidental?

A: This is an excellent hard drive, one of the best I have had. It is ac powered.

Q: 2. Does this drive require reformatting for Windows? I'm using Win10.

A: The drive is preformatted for Mac so reformatting is required for Windows.

Q: 3. Does it come with a type-c to type-c USB 3.1 cable?

A: Yes it does!

Q: 4. 1. Is it Solid State? 2. Is it bootable for editing? Thx

A: The Glyph Technologies 40TB Blackbox PRO RAID Desktop Drive BH #GLBBPR40RDT3 uses Enterprise grade HDD. Booting would depend on the capabilities of your motherboard.

Q: 5. will this work with RAID 5 for video editing?

A: A RAID 5 setup requires at least 3 disks. The Glyph Technologies 40TB Blackbox PRO RAID Desktop Drive (2 x 20TB, Thunderbolt 3), B&H # GLBBPR40RDT3, has 2 disks. You can still use it for video editing, but it can only work in RAID 0, 1, JBOD, and SPAN modes. If you are looking for a RAID 5 array, I would recommend looking into the Oyen Digital Fortis 5C 50TB 5-Bay External Drive Array with SoftRAID 8 Premium Kit, B&H # OY5FU3C50TV8, which does support RAID 5.

Q: 6. Will the 1tb be faster at 7200rpm than this 2tb version at only 5400rpm?

A: For me look like it is faster. Depends of your needs. Music PictureFiles..

Q: 7. Can this drive be formatted as 2 2T volumes, and if so how does that affect data transfer rate?

A: If using on a Mac, the answer is 1) Yes, you can format into multiple partitions and 2) Its possible that partitioning could lower performance when both partitions are being used simultaneously, meaning both volumes are either reading and or writing at the same time. This performance hit may not be much more than reading/writing to two different directories/folders on a single partition. It could also depend on how a particular file system stores data on the various OS's available to you.

Q: 8. What brand and model hard drive is inside?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacture doesn't specify what brand of HDD they use or HDD model for this product. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Q: 9. The photo of the back of this drive enclosure shows two (2) FW800 ports *but* the Specifications tab has the following entry for the Connection Interfaces: 1 x USB 3.0 1 x FireWire 800 1 x eSATA.How many FW800 Ports does this drive actually have? If it is two (2) the info on the Specifications tab should be corrected. If one (1) the picture should be corrected.

A: This drive does in fact have two (2) FW800 ports - unless there has been some change since I bought my drive this past July, the specifications tab is incorrect.

Q: 10. will this drive work with a single firewire800? I have an older mac book pro and iMac both pre2012? Is it backwards compatible with USB 2.0?

A: Yes and yes. You shouldn't have any problem running the drive with either Firewire 800 or USB 2.0, although, if I remember correctly, the Firewire 800 should be much faster and help take advantage of the available read and write speed offered in RAID 0.Peter
