The gold GP65NG60 Portable USB External DVD Burner and Drive from LG allows you to read and write on DVDs and CDs with your computer. This drive connects to your Windows or Mac computer via USB. It features 8x DVD and 24x CD read and write speeds. To offer a better movie experience while watching a DVD, this drive provides Silent Play technology, which automatically adjusts the read speed to reduce its noise level. In addition, this drive supports TV connectivity with optional hardware. It also has Jamless Play so you can watch videos continuously by skipping over erroneous data or damaged areas of the disc that may stop your video. Furthermore, this drive can use M-Discs (DVD+R SL only), which provides data protection by using a patented rock-like recording surface instead of organic dye to etch your data onto a disc. Along with the drive are software programs that include Power2Go, PowerBackup, YouCam, LabelPrint, and Norton Internet Security (60 days).

I actually own an LG burner (desktop external) and it's worked perfectly, but I was looking for one that's small, and I can throw into my bag, because since I DJ with my tablet, it doesn't have a burner, and lately I've been having a lot of independent artists come to me with music on CD and this has gotten the job done. I've been asked to burn a quick CD or my love mixing and again, has worked out perfectly! No issues what-so-ever. 5

I must admit that I was skeptical about having to utilize an external device, as opposed to have my Superdrive within my Mac repaired.Many DVD writers on the market will not work if you have a computer that has an optical drive within, regardless of whether it is functional or not. I made the mistake of thinking that I had to install the disc that comes with the unit.there is NO need to do anything with this disc, you just simply have to put in a DVD, and it will play.I am able to use the controls of my computer to operate the DVD Player.It's as if my internal player never had a problem.An excellent machine that does exactly what you want. 5

Bought to use with a new 27 5K iMac also purchased from B & H. Less than half the price of the Apple Super Drive. Plugged in via USB and it worked flawlessly. Finish is slightly different than iMac but I don't leave out on desk when not in use. I am very satisfied with this product. 5
