The Tiffen 6.6 x 6.6" 1 Cool Blue Hard-Edge Graduated Filter helps to specifically add a cool, purplish-blue coloration to skies and other bright areas of an image while allowing a portion of the image to remain neutrally colored. The filter's coloring is densest at the edge and tapers to clear by the middle, with a hard-edged transition between the density and clear areas. The 1 color density provides less cool blue coloration than the 2 density filter.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 6.6 x 6.6" / 167.6 x 167.6mm.

Provides a deep cool blue coloring to select areas of the image.

Graduated filter design keeps a portion of the image neutral, resulting in a more realistic look while allowing for the sky or other bright areas to take on the color of the density.

Q: 1. Sounds perfect for what I want to do. On a planned overseas trip, I will use a Canon point & shoot with a SD card, and older (early digital) Nikon with a CF card, and 2 iPhones for photos. The SD card is straightforward, but can I transfer the iPhone pics wirelessly or will I need to connect by the USB cable? Also, can I transfer from the Nikon (w/CF card) using theUSB cable? Eventually I would want to transfer copy all the photos to a Mac computer so will I need to format the device to Mac format before I use it? And one more question: when my travels are over, would this be a good device to backup all my Macs and keep the device offsite? DEP in GA

A: Hello,Apologies for the delay I hope this answer will still help you. You will have to check with WD, for direct connection from your Nikon to it. This unit has it's own wireless system, so that you can wirelessly transfer phontos from another device (laptop, camera, etc....) The catch is your other device will have to use Wi-Fi to connect to it and transfer pics.Yes you can treat this unit as a separate external HD and connect it to you MAC to download your pictures. Although I think it's a bit of over kill, I think you are better off just buying a separate external HD. for less money to can get a 2 TB ext HD.Used this unit on trips to Las Vegas and Spain (just returned) and found that the wireless aspect a bit of overkill. Good unit if you're not bring a laptop on a trip. But if you have a laptop you better off just using a small external HD and download your pics to the laptop and HD.

Q: 2. Help! Love the concept of this drive. I'd love to consider it for travel back-up of camera files BUT BUT BUT I use Compact Flash and Cfast. Is there a way to connect an external card reader to this drive ???Thanks for any clues.

A: There is no (standard) way to connect an external card reader. The device does, however expose itself as a wifi hotspot so if you have a laptop (or multiple laptops) with cardreader(s) you could use those and copy directly to the drive without having to connect the drive to the laptop.

Q: 3. Why the mac vs windows difference? I thought external hard drives don't care if its Mac vs Windows. I have an external hard drive that is for windows and its perfectly fine. Also Amazon doesn't list this difference.

A: Mine came default for Mac. I think you just re-format for a Windows machine

Q: 4. is the battery replaceable?

A: No it is not. I know several people who have these and they have never had an issue.

Q: 5. this item manufactured from which state ?

A: The WD 2TB My Passport Wireless B&H # WEMPW2 is made in Thailand.

Q: 6. Will this store my raw NEF files?

A: Yes you can store anything, just look forward to solid state drives to keep getting bigger and dropping in price because they are much smaller, lighter, and far faster. Also less to go wrong than than normal HD with spinning platter, yet solid state stuff still can go bad, sadly I know from experience. :-(

Q: 7. The OS on my MAC Pro tower is 10.8.5. Can I use this WD 1 TB portable hard drive with 10.8.5? Thanks so much!

A: Yes, this hard drive would be compatible with a computer running Mountain Lion (10.8.5) as an operating system.

Q: 8. Can I set a password to lock it?

A: Yes, the WD My Passport Essential 500GB Portable Hard Drive features password-protected encryption.

Q: 9. how many camera RAW files can this hold?

A: A 2TB drive can hold approximately 25,000 RAW photos using a 22MP Uncompressed Raw photo as the measurement unit.

Q: 10. Is that an HDD with flash memory?

A: This is a hard disk drive. It does not have any flash memory.

I have an 8 year old LaCie 2TB drive that was shooing signs of getting tired. I wanted to get something new before the old drive decided to stop working. For my quest to update my external drive system, I wanted something that had a large capacity and that could be portable. I looked at the cloud drives and figured that since I wouldn't be traveling that much right now, that this would be perfect. They are about the size of a deck of cards and don't have to be plugged into a separate power source. They do require being plugged into the computer or a powered hub. I bought three of these. my main one is called Work where I put my photos and projects on. On the second one, I called it Work BU. Anything I put on the Work drive I copy to my Work BU drive for redundancy. The third drive I use for Time Machine. SO far they have been working wonderfully. I'm a photo instructor and I recommend these to my students all the time. I have all of these plugged into an Xcellon 10-Port USB 3.0 hub. This is a powered hub and is running my other five devices perfectly!

I've had good reliability with WD drives in the past so when I needed some more storage (and upgrade my old model) and I saw this Passport Ultra Anniversary Edition I just had to have it! I'd say it's more champagne in colour than gold. It's lighter than the iPhone but it looks really great...much better than the cold silver silver option. I can't believe Apple has made me want to get everything in gold! I guess it's the new brass. I keep it in my Billingham bag.

This is my second WD 1 TB drive, and I use them to both store and backup photos from my MacBook Pro (with solid-state storage). Even with lots of RAW files, the transfer rate seems fast. It is small, and easily stored when not in use. There is nothing about this drive that I would change.
