The Tiffen 4 x 4" CC40Y Yellow Filter is a color compensating (or color correction) filter for use when making color balance adjustments. It can be used to alter the color balance of a scene by placing in front of a light source or the lens of your camera. It can also be used to apply color corrections when used in the darkroom with an enlarger or to help pre-visualize color adjustments when viewing prints.

Yellow is the opposite of blue and can be used to reduce blue tones or casts within a scene or print. This yellow CC40 is more dense than a CC30 filter and less dense than a CC50 filter, and requires a 0.3 stop compensation for normal exposure results.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. This filter measures 4 x 4" / 101.6 x 101.6mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens the equivalent to the Nikon FX format?

A: Yes, this lens is the equivalent to a Nikon FX type lens.

Q: 2. WILL IT WORK WITH CANON EOS 70D?

A: I use this lens on my Canon 70D... it works great. The combination works best with lots of light. The focus hunts quite a bit in low light, so I manually set focus in those situations. It's a bit heavy, but is a great lens for the money!

Q: 3. Can the magnification be changed? Like if I want to see it at a 100x? And then change it to 480x?

A: The only way to change magnification is with a more powerful eyepiece ( lower mm) or by a 2X Barlow lens which will increase the magnification of your existing eyepiece by 2X

Q: 4. Trying to decide which telephoto lens under $1500 to buy for my canon? I have a 24-105mm lens which is a pretty good all around lens but I want something with a little more reach to hopefully take on a safari one day and an Alaska trip. Ideally I would love a canon ef 100-400 but that's a little out of my price range. Is the Tamron 150-600 the way to go?

A: Rafael,Sorry about the late response.I use my Tamron 150-600 almost all the time. I usually set my mm at about 590 mm and get my best results at f7.1 with as much natural light as possible. When shooting eagles along a river I use a Tripod with a gimbal but also shoot a lot handheld while hiking with higher shutter speeds.Regards,Tom

Q: 5. Can the lens be used a Nikon D90?

A: Yes. This lens works with Nikon D90 camera.

Q: 6. Can this be used on a Nikon D7000?

A: Yes, karen K; I'm using it with my Nikon D7000 and works excellently. Highly recommend the Tamron. Remember it weights 4 1/2 pounds and you will need sometime to dominate it handheld. 98% of my shots are handheld. It focuses very fast and its VR is very useful.

Q: 7. what is the warranty on this lens?

A: The lens comes with a Tamron USA limited 6-year warranty which covers parts and labor due to manufacturer's defects.

Q: 8. Focus lag / performance?I had originally planned on getting this lens when I sold my Tamron 200-500mm last year. The focus performance on that lens was not good and I was hoping the new Tamron would be a better performer. I've read a lot that in anything other than bright sunlight that the new Tamron does not perform well acquiring focus. What is your experience with this lens? are you happy with it? why or why not?I'll be using a D7200.I have been leaning toward the Sigma 150-600mm Sport version. I'm confident that it is well built and a great performer but its twice the price and a lot heavier. If you've used both lenses please let me know your thoughts.Thank you,Steve

A: I'm very happy with the Tamron 150-600. I use it on my D300 & D800 and it focus as fast as or faster than my Nikkor lenses. You will love it.

Q: 9. Are there still issues with this lens or had Tamron corrected those problems? I remember when it came out people complained about focusing issues.

A: From what I hear there is actually a new version of this lens. Having that said, I have the old version. Although it has its limitations, for example low light conditions are challenging, but not impossible if you adjust your settings for it, and extreme far away objects get rather soft. I've done some surprisingly nice images of wildlife at as little as 1/250 of a second. Not too shabby. My nikon 400mmlens hunts a lot more than this one. Although it hunts a little when I'm trying to get warblers. I think the only thing I would want to change on it is the location of the manual focus ring. (I like to manual focus)It's a pretty good lens overall and I'm very happy with mine.

Q: 10. Can it be used with canon 2XIII extender

A: No, I found the Sigma 2x teleconverter worked.
