Snoots, barndoors, grids, and filters are essential accessories for any lighting system. These devices alter the shape, intensity, or color of the light output from your flash heads. Consider them as a painter would a brush or a sculptor would a knife or chisel.

Use of a snoot will result in a small circle of light when it is attached to the front of your light source. The size of the circle of light will be determined by the opening of the snoot, its length, and the distance of the subject.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is it good for bringing out of the studio to outside gigs ?

A: Yes this product can also be used outdoors.

Q: 2. How do i maintain the capacitor in a power light?

A: No maintenance needed! Each time you power down the light the capacitor unloads by popping the tube. The Powerlights are maintenance free, just use them, and use them, and use them.

Q: 3. Can flash duration be adjusted?

A: Not directly, no. But for most flash units the brightness of the flash over a set amount of time doesn't change. What does change is the length of the light burst. So shooting at full power uses the longest burst, and at half power it will be half as long. I don't have the manuals in front of me (but they are online at the Photogenic website). I'm pretty sure they give the length of flash durations at various settings.... or at least an estimate.

Q: 4. Whether the flash duration at max. power and min. power indicates t0.5 and t0.1?

A: As per the manufacturer, the minimum and maximum flash duration for this monolight is based on t0.5.

Q: 5. what is the color temparature of flash head bulb?

A: The Photogenic PL2500DRC offers a daylight kelvin temperature.

Q: 6. Battery power

A: The Photogenic PLR2500DRC 1,000W/s PowerLight Monolight is not designed for use with battery power. It is an AC-powered unit that comes with a standard household AC power cord to power the unit. If you are looking for a power inverter that may be used with the included AC power cord for location usage, the Photogenic Ion Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System, B&H # PHION, would work for your usage needs.

Q: 7. do any of these casters lock?

A: The Photogenic Tony Posing Table casters do not lock.

Q: 8. What is the width and length of the table?

A: The top portion of the Photogenic Tony Posing Table measures 18 x 27" with an adjustable height of 25-48".

Q: 9. Can you use high speed sync with these?

A: No, the Photogenic PL1250C do not support High Speed Sync.

Q: 10. Does this light set up need a batter power supply for each light when electricity is not available?

A: When an AC outlet is not available, you may use the Photogenic Ion Lithium-ion Pure Sine Wave Inverter System, BH #PHION to power these two Photogenic PL1250C monolights. https://bhpho.to/2JopUtR

I have 2 photogenic monolights. I have had them for over 5 years. They are dependable unlike JTL. Excellent customer service

Really I think these are 4.5 out of 1-5. I have about 8 of these that are used a lot. I've owned/used Novatrons, Dynalights, etc, and these are great. As mono-lights, I can put them all over a large area, the don't have to worry about plugging each into one power pack. Love how you can regulate the power to whatever you want. I rarely go to full power with these. I use three for location headshots at ISO 100 with either umbrellas or softboxes, and set each at 1/4 power at the most. I've used them in dental clinics, medical offices, industrial areas, outside, churches, reception venues, and always know that I can count on them to give professional results. Occasionally the photo (optical) slave from one might not see the other flash, and not fire, especially if I am using a softbox, which puts the sensor on the wrong side of the light. Can't they add one to another location? Love using one light bounced off the white ceiling at a reception to give me consistant fill light over a large area.

I've used these same lights for years. One of my lights was destroyed when it crashed 10 ft. down on cement. I was only looking to replace it when I found this kit. Now I have two brand new lights and I LOVE them. I didn't realize how worn my old ones were and am enjoying a whole new set. I'd highly recommmend these!

I'm replacing lighting after my studio partner left-this is my second Photogenic-the first I've used hard for 8 years with no problems, unlike the other brand we used. The modelling lamp lasts forever, and fan cooling seems to do the job. Also, switching modifiers is a snap. Highly recommended.
