Manual focus, catadioptric optical design telephoto lens with fixed f/8 aperture, which is compatible with select camera focus peaking systems and in-body multi-axis advanced image stabilization systems.

Multilayered anti-reflection coating for efficient light intake and reduced flare, plus high-reflectivity silvered coating and a protective antioxidant layer on the back side of mirrored surfaces for long performance life.

Minimum focusing distance of 45.3" and magnification 0.4x can capture small objects, while the 400mm focal length reduces the possibility of casting a shadow on the subject

Catadioptric design and construction creates a smooth and unusual donut-shaped bokeh

Wide focus ring provides smooth rotation range of 270°

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Last question, I think. I currently use, for "distance" photo, a 55-200 Nikkor. Going from this to this 400mm, is it too much of a difference regarding quality and distance? (not sure how much difference there is between 200 and 400mm). Additionally, in image the lens seems "small", when comparing to vivitar 500mm. Is it that size or you have to "open" it?

A: This lens would be double the magnification of your 55-200mm at the 200mm end. This lens would be more compact that the Vivitar 500mm lens. Please feel free to reach out to us directly via Live Chat or e-mail to askbh@bhphoto.com with any other questions you may have.

Q: 2. If I use this lens on a D500 that has a cropped sensor, will the true focal length be somewhere around 600MM ?

A: The angle of view of the Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF Lens for Nikon F on the D500's crop sensor would be roughly equal to the angle of view of a 600mm lens on a full-frame image sensor.

Q: 3. Do this need and/or come with an adaptor for Fujifilm. Is this lens auto focused, or totally manual focus?

A: This lens comes with an adapter and is manual focus only.

Q: 4. Can the lens hood be reversed and stored on the lens?

A: The Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF Lens for Nikon F's lens cap cannot be reversed and stored on the lens.

Q: 5. Will focus peaking work when mounyed to a OLY OMD EM1 mkII?

A: Focus Peaking will work on the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II with the Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF Lens for Micro Four Thirds.

Q: 6. Has anyone been able to use focus peaking with this lens on a Fuji X camera?

A: This is a very new lens and so there is not much information on real use. But like any lens if the camera has focus peaking it should technically be able to do that with this lens. And with most others that fit on the camera.

Q: 7. will this lens work with sony a7c or a7r IV?

A: Yes, it is an E mount.

Q: 8. Does this lens come with a protector filter as showed in the photo of it on this page?

A: The Tokina SZX 400mm f/8 Reflex MF Lens does not come with a filter but it can use any 67mm filter such as this Hoya: https://bhpho.to/3xlGMt1

Q: 9. I just got this lens for an Olympus EM1-ii. Can't seem to get the focus peaking to work. Works fine with the one other manual focus lens I have. Is there some limitation with being 400mm or f/8?

A: According to Olympus, they state this must be an isolated lens issue. There is no in-camera reason for lack of focus peaking. You simply need to customize a button to focus peaking usage. Tap the selected customized button to turn on focus peaking, and tap the button again to turn off the focus peaking feature. If there is still no focus peaking, then it is really a lens issue as focus peaking depends on contrast to work; no electrical lens contacts are needed.

Q: 10. If this lens is already a Nikon F-mount, why does it need an F-mount adaptor?

A: The lens itself is a T mount which makes adaptable to many cameras with the right adapter. It says Nikon F mount because it's coming with the F mount adapter.
