Q: 1. what is the biggest print size I can get out of this scanner with a 35mm film neg?

A: I am going to assume you are concerned with the quality of the image as you try to make it larger. The scanner will allow you to scan the film negative at its original size (35mm). The quality of the image when it is processed and enlarged with photo editing software will be dependent on the quality of the original negative and the resolution that you use to scan the negative. The scanner's (Epson Scan) software allows you select very high resolutions to help with this issue. If you are not familiar with image resolution and how to process images for good print quality, I suggest you study some resources on the topic to gain a better understanding of how this works. This scanner is a good quality desktop scanner and is capable of producing very good scans. Certainly good enough for most photo reproduction projects. The maximum size of the image is really just limited by the photo printer, not the scanner.

Q: 2. Is this scanner compatible with Photoshop cs6? My old Epson keeps crashing Photoshop now I have upgraded to windows 10.

A: The scanner works fine with Windows 10, however, I use Corel PaintShop Pro v9.

A: There are 4 modes available on the scanner: Full Auto, Home, Office, Professional. I am a Home User, so I don't understand your need, but if there is something I can print for you from the User's Manual, then please ask another question and I will try my best to help you. The following is cut/paste from the User's Manual Configuration Dialog Box Color Menu.No Color CorrectionAllows you to scan images without adjusting the quality of the image at all. Select this setting for best results when making your own color profile using a color calibration device.

A: You can scan 8X10 prints and other reflective material but not 8X10 negatives. 120 negatives or transparencies is the largest film size that this scanner is capable of scanning.

A: I'm sorry but it is not compatible with Chromebooks.

A: No, only the following units can support IT8 targets Perfection Photo scanners 3200, 4870, 4990 and V700

A: The V600 scans the full photo.

A: The time may vary depending on your computer and various settings in the software but I timed 31sec for a color photo 8x10 scan at 300dpi with no features turned such as no unsharp mask, no dust correction and no descreening.

I have just started to use this scanner. The main reason I bought this model was for digitally capturing a lot of slides. The color correction is excellent; it takes the yellow/red color out and enhances the richness of the 30 year old slides to 90-95% of the original color. I have not used the other features yet. This is pretty much a plug and play. The user's manual on the CD is very limited but meets my needs so far. I have not used the Photoshop CD that came with the scanner. A typical slide scan with a 600-700 pixel, 3-5 Meg file take about 4 minutes per slide. The slide unit holds 4 slides so about 15 minutes to scan 4 slides, so watch TV or read while converting slides. It is worth the time. You need to plug the scanners pig tail into the back of the scanner for slides; this will be obvious when you see the scanner. I am trying to find out why my dark slides show graininess, perhaps there are grains in the original slide? 5

I wanted to scan old family photographs to make a book for my aging Mom. This scanner was so easy to use, very intuitive for one who had never scanned before and I found the results to be excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to set up and operate. It worked seamlessly with my Mac Book pro. Now I look forward to trying the slide and film functions. 5

The Epson V500 Scanner's potential is much greater than advertised. It will do 110 film that's the old instamatic cameras. You just have to put the film in a clear film sleeve to hold it flat. I did some of my dad's old box camera negatives from the 40's and 50's. and some stuff I found in an old trunk that was 35mm with single sprocket holes. I tried it on some slides and of course pictures. The big thing is those old color negatives have yellowed but the ICE software makes them look like new. They have better color than the old photographs that have also deteriorated. I am glad that we were able to do pre-sale inquiries with manuals. If we had not done that I would have bought a very limiting box for about the same price. One note though; it is easy to get good results fast, you soon learn that you can do much better with the software provided then it seems to become a challenge on every picture to do better and remove imperfections, then you go back and do the others over. 5

My primary use is to scan in photos, slides and negatives to create a family archive. I have several pre-1940 photos that need some resoration and enlargement. This scanner is simple, fast and provides a quality scan. It took less than 5 minutes to set it up and I was scanning into the Epson utility. I also used it to scan into PowerPoint. 5
