Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How big is the lamp in the back of the lid? I have 8 X 10 negatives. Will I be able to scan them?

A: You can scan 8X10 prints and other reflective material but not 8X10 negatives. 120 negatives or transparencies is the largest film size that this scanner is capable of scanning.

Q: 2. My father took hundreds of cardboard-mounted 120 slides (2.75" x 2.75") in the 1960's which I would like to scan. Has anyone out there tried this scanner with mounted 120 slides?

A: For 120 slides, you will have to take the film out of the mounts to scan them in the film holder. This scanner only allows 35mm slides in their mounts to be scanned.

Q: 3. Is this scanner compatible with Photoshop cs6? My old Epson keeps crashing Photoshop now I have upgraded to windows 10.

A: The scanner works fine with Windows 10, however, I use Corel PaintShop Pro v9.

Q: 4. will the V600 photo scanner work with on 220 volts with a transformer?

A: This only works on 120 volts. With a proper transformer to that voltage it will work.

Q: 5. The reviews indicate that it does not interface well with windows 10. I have Windows 10 21H1 updated 2/9/21 will this scanner work well with my system, or will I issues?

A: Speaking from personal experience I can assure you that it is fully compatible with Windows 10.

Q: 6. Can the Epson V600 calibrate IT8 targets?

A: No, only the following units can support IT8 targets Perfection Photo scanners 3200, 4870, 4990 and V700

Q: 7. Is this scanner Linux friendly? Running Fedora 27.

A: I would say yes after reading Kevin's post. However you link it up, the printer is a good tool.

Q: 8. Will this scanner work with macOS 12.4?

A: To use the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner with the macOS 12 Operating System, you would have to visit Epson's website for the Epson Perfection V600 Photo, click the [SUPPORT] tab, then click "Go To Support," Under the [Downloads] tab, you can select [macOS 12.x] as your Operating System, and you may then download the scanner drivers and utilities for the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner for your usage needs.

Q: 9. How many slides can it do simultaneously, and what file formats are in the output. (TIF, JPG, BMP?)

A: You can do 4 slides at a time. You should use the preview to make sure the perspective is correct. The scanner software will let you adjust many settings and then save it. I have one called color slides . There are jpg, PDF, bmp, etc. outputs. I find that a jpeg that I can open in PS and tweak is the best solution. I'm very happy with the scanner and have also used it for negative film. Good Luck!

Q: 10. what is the biggest print size I can get out of this scanner with a 35mm film neg?

A: I am going to assume you are concerned with the quality of the image as you try to make it larger. The scanner will allow you to scan the film negative at its original size (35mm). The quality of the image when it is processed and enlarged with photo editing software will be dependent on the quality of the original negative and the resolution that you use to scan the negative. The scanner's (Epson Scan) software allows you select very high resolutions to help with this issue. If you are not familiar with image resolution and how to process images for good print quality, I suggest you study some resources on the topic to gain a better understanding of how this works. This scanner is a good quality desktop scanner and is capable of producing very good scans. Certainly good enough for most photo reproduction projects. The maximum size of the image is really just limited by the photo printer, not the scanner.

I had a V300 for a couple of years, upgraded to the V600, which has the same user interface, but allows more negative/positive film sizes, and double the number of 35mm scans per run. A bit faster than the V300. I am in the process of converting a large number of 35mm photos to digital, using high dpi. Could be faster, but for the price, it's a great deal.

Used this scanner to put family slides onto the computer. Very easy to set up, use and it produced a great quality picture. A time consuming process but not as time consuming as other scanners out there I am told.

I purchased this scanner to convert 35mm slides to digital so that I can preserve them on DVD; also to be able to show the pictures on a TV. I have about 2,000 slides. The scanner is easy to setup, easy to use and the finished pictures are just what I wanted. The software that comes with the scanner also allows me to enhance colors on faded slides. I very happy that the product was recommended to by B & H.
