Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with a Sony Handycam HDR-PJ430V? I have the Lanc to sony multiport adapter cable, will this allow me to control focus?

A: Brey good

Q: 2. What is the approximate maximum / minimum angle for the crane arm? In other words, how close to vertical will it go when fully raised or lowered? (I realize this is somewhat dependent on the tripod/mount, but I'm wondering about the crane itself.)

A: I'm not sure on the angle. If set up in a typical fashion, the jib will not hit the legs of a tripod nor will attached standard weights on the rear balance section. On a five foot tall base the unit boasts that it will go from the ground to eleven feet tall. I find that to be pretty close to true. ProAm has a website with slightly more information about the unit that could come in handy. I hope this helps.

Q: 3. will it work with Sony CX130 ?

A: It will not. This a LANC controller, the CX130 does not have a LANC connection for control.

Q: 4. I have the D&S Provista 7518 tripod with FM18 head. Will my tripod hold this jib, camera and counter-weights? In general, what weight capacity do I need in a tripod for a jib like this? With my camera (BMCC with rails etc.) close to 10 pounds, this 12 pound jib, and maybe 35 pounds (?) counterweights, do I really need a tripod that claims 55-pound capacity?

A: I have the Pro Am jib but added a 4' extension for a total of 12'. I purchased a dedicated tripod for the rig, a Manfrotto 132XNB rated at 66 lbs, as I use 35 lbs of counterweight. I would always suggest you err on the side of caution as you will likely be using the rig around people, and you don't want a lawsuit trying to save a few bucks. Picked mine up non ebay for under $200. Has a 100mm ball head, I also purchase the Pro Am ball bearing mount for the jib as opposed to mounting on a tripod head. FYI, I too have the Pro Vista tripod, but I use it for my 4 and 6' jibs.

Q: 5. Does this only work in live view?

A: All monitors connected will show what is on the back screen. If you are in Live View, you will see Live View. If you are not in Live View the screen will be black. If you go to Menu, you will see that.

Q: 6. Can I use this system with a Canon C100/battery/canon L series lens?

A: Yes you can, I have this setup and the result is amazing.

Q: 7. Hi do the legs on this tripod actually extend to 72 , or is that only when the center post is extended? Thanks!

A: The legs themselves measure 54 so depending on the angle you have them at, the height will be somewhat shorter than that. With the center post fully extended and the legs spread to make the widest base, the full height measures 67 . I was able to achieve 72 by pulling the legs in to a pretty steep angle (thereby giving up a bit of stability of having a wide base).

Q: 8. I have the ProAm 12' (maybe 10'?) larger version with it's stand. Will the tripod work with this? Is there a pan accessory?

A: the tripod from the 12" version will work with the ProAm USA Orion DVC210 8' DSLR Camera Crane / Jib

Q: 9. does this work for Canon 40D?

A: It does not. This is not compatible with the Canon 40D.

Q: 10. Will the remote turn my camera FDR AX1 on ? thank you

A: While we cannot speak to the specific functions that will work with any camera and this remote, we can tell you that the AX1 has a LANC input and it should work with this controller.
