Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Recently bought this camera and updated to firmware 2.05 to try the high-speed video at 120fps. I'm using a PNY Elite 64gb card, u3, class 10, 95mb/s. Yet when I switch to 120fps, the camera says !incorrect and will not allow recording. What could be the problem? The card exceeds the requirements for high-speed work.

A: Me neather try to use another brand sanddisk

Q: 2. Does this camera ship with the updated firmware that allows for 120FPS recording? Or will I have to update it manually?

A: Unfortunately we do not have access to our inventory to be able to inspect the camera and the firmware version installed on it. It is not uncommon that from the time a camera leaves the manufacturer overseas and then arrives to the customer that a new firmware version may be released. Firmware updates are posted on manufacturers websites and are easy to perform. We always recommend that when receiving a new model camera, to check its firmware version to the most recent version posted on the manufacturers website.

Q: 3. What sort of wired remote works with this camera, and is there one that can turn the camera OFF or at least put it into some kind of standby mode?

A: there isn't a wired remote that will turn this camera on and off

Q: 4. Please, does it come with a lens cap?

A: no

Q: 5. Does this camera have an intervalometer for time-lapse recording?

A: I would like to help but this item was purchased by our company for a client we have so I have no practical experience. All I can say is the client was more than pleased with this item. Gerry.

Q: 6. Is there focus peaking for when in manual focus mode (something to show you what is in focus and what isn't)?

A: The GY-HM170UA has a Focus Assist Mode that you can take advantage of. In the Focus Assist Mode the in focus areas are displayed in color to allow for easy and accurate focusing.

Q: 7. Does this have the option to switch to 4:3?

A: Yes, but I believe only when in SD mode. I've only had mine for about a week. I shot some regular HD basketball clips at 60P and the quality was amazing. Then I shot some 4K basketball clips at 30P (60P isn't allowed when using 4K on this camera). The quality was great, but of course 30P isn't ideal for sports. Anyway...I figured I'd give you my thoughts in addition to the 4:3 question... Overall, I'm VERY happy with the purchase. The form factor is much smaller than my Panasonic AG-AC90, but still large enough to look pro . Hope this helps.

Q: 8. can you sync time-code with another GY-HM170 cam?

A: Unfortunately there is no way to jam time code between two GY-HM170u camcorders. However you could always sync the camcorders up in Post Production using PluralEyes 3.5. PluraEyes syncs multiple sources using audio wave forms in programs like Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Media Composer and Vegas Pro.

Q: 9. I wrote a review of this camera that has never appeared here !!! ????

A: I am sorry you're review on this product has not yet been posted. We receive many reviews each day and have to read and approve them all before they can be published. We do our best to get them posted as soon as possible.

Q: 10. How do you replace the CR 2025 battery?

A: This camcorder uses a JVC BN-style battery.
