I purchased this about 2 months ago and I am very pleased with both the speed, the ease of use and the great scans. The automatic enhancements to photos are terrific and I like the ability to capture writing on the back of the prints as part of the process (you can easily turn that option on when you have photos with notes on back). This scanner went way beyond my expectation and if you have a ton of old photos like I do, this is the way to scan them, fast and accurate.

This scanner is quick and the resolution of the photos is really good. I was sick of scanning on the flat bed scanner. This does the job very nicely.

Not only is this scanner superfast and easy to use, it even enhances the photos! Setting up the wireless connection was a little tricky (as reviews warned) but Epson's documentation and support is excellent and we were quickly up and running. Makes clearing out the basement fun, not drudgery!

Bought this along with an ES-60W scanner to arvhive boxes of old photos and I'm so glad I did. This machine is absolutrly amazing and fast. It scans both sides of the photo if it detects information, otherwise it skips the backside. It came with a carrier sheet to use with frayed, odd sized, turn clippings and etc..
I highly recommend this scanner to anyone wishing to scan lots of photos. It has saved me many, many days of work due the speed and capability.
The only complaint, is that I wish you could change the file path and name descrioption from the scan button screen, rather than selecting Done andventering the settings option.
I would also, suggest getting the ES-60W scanner for scanning photos to thick (Poloroid) or too small to feed through the FastFoto scanner. You'll thank me for it. I have over 6000 photos to archive.

I purchased this scanner to finally digitize my big boxes of old photo prints. I have digitized about 50 rolls so far without issue. The scanner works quickly - I haven't timed it but it seems to be 1-2 minutes per roll depending on the number of pictures. I haven't had any misfeeds. The only issue has been a couple of Polaroids - it's balky about feeding those. The software works well and allows you to specify directories for a scan using year, month (or season) and free text. The scanned results look good - the software gives you the choice of scanning as-is or automatically applying corrections (sort of like the auto smart fix in Photshop). I'm scanning old 4x6 snapsohots- I can't comment on how it would work on something like high quality art prints.


I have also successfully scanned a couple of documents both using Epson's software and directly from Acrobat.


When I'm done with my photo scanning (which will be a while - these first 50 rolls have barely made a dent in my backlog) I'll have to decided whether to sell this unit and go back to my old flatbed (higher resolution, but slow warmup and slow scanning), or keep this one with the advantages of speed and the sheet feeder.


Based on my experience so far I would definitely recommend this scanner.

We had shot 150 rolls plus of 35mm film before going digital. They were packed in plastic containers, and not really looked at because it was too inconvenient. The thought of moisture causing them to stick made us decide to digitalize.  A service would have cost over $1,000, until we heard someone recommend the FF-680.  

It set up very fast!  It was amazing how quick and accurate the copies were. The automatic duplicate enhanced photos were a bonus.  A few friends asked to copy theirs when we finished with ours.

This is an excellent scanner. I have put 2000 photo's through it and ti continues to operate flawlessly.
The only setup issue I had was finding the drivers. The documentation provides the site, but its wrong. Took me 30 minutes to find and retrieve the software and rivers.
FYI: the drivers and software do not come with the scanner. They must be down loaded.

The scanner lives up to its name fast foto! Is is that. I have used it at 300dpi, 600dpi, & 1200dpi and all are so much faster than a flat bed or single insert scanner. Being able to load a built of photos in at a time is a game changer!

I'm so glad I bought this it is doing exactly what I wanted it to do save my memories
