Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the new firmware improve improve video performance ? Specifically with use on the Sony A6300? Thanks

A: The ZEISS Touit lenses were designed for still photo applications and not specifically for video. The firmware update referenced at a href= http://www.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/en_de/service/download_center/touit_e-mount.html target= _blank http://www.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/en_de/service/download_center/touit_e-mount.html/a is to support phase detection auto focus and the fast hybrid auto focus of newer Sony E-mount cameras.

Q: 2. What lens adapter do I need to put this on either a Canon 6D or a Canon6D MarkII?

A: As far as we are aware, there is currently no adapter that will allow you to mount an EF-M lens such as the Meike MK-12mm f/2.8 EF-M mount lens onto a 6d / 6d Mk II. That is because the flange focal distance of the EF-M system is smaller than the EF/EF-S flange focal distance; you can go bigger to smaller, but typically not smaller to bigger.

Q: 3. May we use it on a Panasonic GH5? What we need extra to fit onto a GH 5?

A: No, the Nikon 1 version cannot fit on the GH5, however if you get the micro four thirds version it will fit on the GH5 and that is without an adapter.

Q: 4. What is the field of view?

A: The Opteka 12mm f/2.8 Lens for Sony E has about a 99 degree field of view.

Q: 5. Does the focus ring direction match that of the Fuji native lenses such as the 16 mm 1.4 or is it backwards?

A: The Fujifilm XF 16mm f/1.4 R WR Lens focuses infinity to the right like Nikon. The Opteka 12mm f/2.8 Lens for Fujifilm Xfocuses infinity to the left like Canon.

Q: 6. What is the Field of View of this lens in degrees?

A: According to Meike's website, the view is approximately diagonal 99°, horizontal 88.5°, and vertical 65.5°

Q: 7. Can you fit a 72 mm uv filter on this lens without fov interference?

A: Yes, I would recommend using a slim build UV filter to avoid any kind of vignette on this lens. The B+W 72mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter would be a great option. I have posted a link bellow. https://bhpho.to/2cy8Yj4

Q: 8. Compatible with olympus pen epl1 and 2?

A: It is compatible with the Olympus Pen E-PL1 and Olympus Pen E-PL2.

Q: 9. How well would this lens be expected to perform for shooting the milky way? I am currently shooting with the kit 18-35mm lens and am looking to take get better image quality when shooting at night than i can achieve with the kit lense. Is there a compatible Nex7 lens that would be recommended before this one? I don't mind if it would require an adapter, just looking for a good night photography lens with a reasonable price.

A: In this focal range and price range I would say this is the best you could opt for to give you improved image quality over your 18-35mm kit lens. Sony offers a 16mm f2.8 lens but it would not give you the same field of view as this lens would, and the optical quality of this Zeiss lens is much greater than the Sony 16mm option.

Q: 10. Which adapter would i have to buy so i use to my canon rebel 6ti?

A: Unfortunately there isn't an adapter that will work. Mirrorless lenses are mounted closer to the sensor than DSLR lenses so you'd basically have to place the lens inside the camera body which you aren't able to do.
