Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this adapter enable auto-iso when I want to attach third party lens (like Zeiss ZM 35 1.4) on my SL2?

A: You will be able to use Auto ISO with third party lenses.

Q: 2. Is it possible to focus with fully opened aperture but make a shot with a chosen one?

A: Yes, when using the FUJIFILM H Mount Adapter G, it is possible to focus with a fully open aperture, but snap a photo with a closed down aperture.

Q: 3. Will this adapter effect minimum focusing length of M Lenses (0.7m)? Does it work like M to E-Mount adapter on Sony?

A: If you mean the changing the the focusing length like the Voigtlander VM-E Close Focus Adapter does, no. There is no change in the minimum focus distance.

Q: 4. Is there a conversion factor when using M lenses on Leca SL or SL2?

A: No, there isn't a conversion factor.

Q: 5. could i use this with one of the older M models (M Monochrom)? i understand the macro focusing would be pretty hard without LiveView, but it could be possible, right?

A: I use this with Live View on several Sonys which because of their excellent peaking focus feature they can work with the adaptor. I think without live view it will be nearly impossible or at least very hit and miss to get tack sharp focus with the adaptor. Be sure in itself the adaptor is terrific piece of kit.

Q: 6. F stop value is off by up to 2 full stops from what the lens itself reads. If I shoot at f2 manually the computer reads that i shot at f 2.8. What can we make of this?

A: Are you using a compatible lens? There are only 25 compatible Leica lenses for this adapter--they are listed in the manual on the product page. Please contact the B&H Photo department for further help.

Q: 7. How does 6-bit coding work here? Camera can only recognize this adapter and can't recognize which (coded)lens is attached to it?

A: No, the following lens will send no passive exif or metadata as it is a all manual lens Specifically designed for the Leica Macro-Elmar-M 90mm.

Q: 8. With this Leica M Macro Adapter can I fit my APO 50mm f/2 on my SL2 by attaching this to my Leica M- L Adapter to take macros ?

A: The Leica Macro-Adapter-M will attach to the Leica APO-Summicron-M 50mm f/2 ASPH. Lens (Black). And it should work with most M to L mount adapters. Note it has not been tested with that adapter in that combination.

Q: 9. I have Leica M Type 240 Camera and Leica 90mm f2 M lens. If I purchase Macro-Adapter-M by Leica, could I get Macro capability with my lens? What would be the reproduction ratio 1:1 or 1:2? If the response is 1:2 as the product spec specifies how do I achieve Macro reproduction ratio of 1:1?Regards,simik7@comcast.net

A: The Leica Macro-Adapter-M when used on lenses with focal lengths of at least 50mm achieve a maximum reproduction ratio up to 1:2 for close-up shooting. Technically speaking, 1:1 is reached when a lenses optical center is moved twice its focal length from the focal plane (or sensor plane). Your 90mm lens would have to be moved far enough so its optical center was 180mms from your cameras focal plane (or sensor plane). Using a lens with a shorter (wider angle) focal length would increase your reproduction ratio with the M adapter. I am not aware of longer Extension tubes made for the Leica M mount nor a bellows set up that will fit.

Q: 10. Will my EXIF data be correct with Voigtlander lens on Leica SL?

A: Unfortunately no, Voigtlander lenses can't transmit the EXIF metadata to a Leica body.
