Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, i have read the instruction manuals, and it says on step 5 to pour stabiliser. However, this package does not include the stabiliser powder. How does it effect the result if we are not including the stabiliser?

A: If you are shooting modern color negative film, a "stabilizer bath" is not necessary. Up until the mid 90's, the final rinse bath in the C-41 process was called a "stabilizer bath," since it contained Formaldehyde or Formalin. Modern color film emulsions include chemical stabilizers within the film emulsion itself.

Q: 2. Will this kit only develop 8-10 rolls of 35mm for one time only or in one batch?

A: The following chemistry is designed to process approximately eight rolls of 35mm x 36 exp. or 120 film in one use. The only real way to check if you chemistry is still good from storage is to test it, just snip off a piece of film with the light to expose it, and place it in the developer. It should turn quickly.

Q: 3. First time developing color. I have the tank. Do I need to buy any other chemicals or does the kit have everything required to process a roll of film?

A: Equipment not included in the kit are, • A processing tank and reels or a rotary-tube type processor. • Three empty chemical storage bottles. • A graduated pitcher. • TCS-1000 temperature control system, or • A timer, an accurate thermometer and a tempered water bath. Best is to come in to chat or call for the items you need. There are many options.

Q: 4. How to mix 1 gallon out of this? Shall i buy 3 kits and mix it separately ?

A: The CineStill Film Cs41 Powder Developing Kit for C-41 Color Film is designed to create 33.8 fluid ounces. One US gallon would be equal to 128 US fluid ounces. As such, if you need one (1) gallon, I would recommend purchasing four (4) of the above powder developing kits. This would give you a total of 135.2 US fluid ounces, which would be slightly more than one US gallon.

Q: 5. Do I have to use all of it at once, or can I only make however much I need at a time?

A: Yes, all stock must be used on the CineStill Film Cs41 Powder Developing Kit for C-41 Color Film at once.

Q: 6. How many 120mm rolls can be processed?

A: You can process approximately 8-10 rolls of 120 film. Of course you can use the chemistry for more than 1 batch but your development times will increase to compensate for partially exhausted chemistry. You can refer to the dev. instructions packaged with the chemistry for more details.

Q: 7. Can you reuse all of the chemicals? if so, how many 35mm roles?

A: Please take a look in this linked pdf below in the second page under Solution Capacities and More Chemistry Capacity as it explains that. https://bit.ly/3d00fFe

Q: 8. can I use this kit to do a Cross Processing on slide films?

A: You could take an E6 film and cross process it with this C41 kit. The issue is that cross processing is all about trial and error and be open to see what happens. We cannot guarantee what results you will have, but it is a fun process to use. If you are open to wild and unpredictable results and are interested in DIY it would be something fun to try.

Q: 9. There's a picture of this with a case. Is the case included?

A: Yes, the COLBOR CF-200G Adjustable Fresnel Lens includes a carrying case.

Q: 10. How long does the chemical last once mixed?

A: According to the manufacturer, a mixed solution that is tightly capped and stored in an appropriate container can last for 8-12 weeks.
