Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the Sensei step up rings work for freewell magnetic filters?

A: Since the ring is aluminum, it is not magnetic. The Freewell Empty Magnetic Base Ring (82mm) would still be needed in order to attach their other magnetic filters. https://bhpho.to/3hEadRN

Q: 2. Can this item be used with a M9 that does not have a live view electronic view finder

A: You wont be able to see what you are focusing or if you focused on the subject , would not recommend it

Q: 3. Does it come in something to store it in?

A: Yes, the Sensei PRO 58-67mm aluminum step-up ring comes in a clear protective case.

Q: 4. Am planning to do these 1. step up from 37-52mm and then 2. step up from 52-67mm 3. Mount a 67mm CPL filter Will I be introducing vignetting in this setup? Appreciate all comments. Thanks in advance.

A: Depends on the lens you're using. But its likely you wouldn't get any vignetting from the filter due to the filter being so much bigger than the lens diameter. A random suggestion I think would help to simplify the process, consider looking into this step up ring. It's from 37-67mm all in one. So you wouldn't need to stack step-ups. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1355342-REG/benro_dr6737_67_37mm_step_down_ring.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 5. Can you use a lens hood with this?

A: Yes, you can attach a 72mm lens hood to this step-up ring. Here are two to consider. B+W 72mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood B&H # BWLHR72 and Sensei 72mm Quick Clip Lens Hood B&H # SELNQC72

Q: 6. Will this work with a Sigma 18-35mm f 2.1 lens?

A: If you are referring to the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens, yes the lens has a 72mm thread and so the step up ring will allow you to use 77mm filters.

Q: 7. Could this cause vignetting on a 15mm wide angle lens?

A: While it would depend on the lens and filter you are using to say for sure, since this is a step-up ring and even wider, it is unlikely that it would cause any vignetting.

Q: 8. Is it made in japan?

A: This ring is made in China.

Q: 9. Can you stack these? I have a 58-77 but I want to convert it to an 82mm. Can I buy a 77mm to 82mm and stack it with the 58mm to 77mm?

A: You can do that, but vignetting is possible on a wide-angle lens--this 58-82mm adapter ring is a better idea: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1443406-REG/sensei_surpa_5882_pro_58_82mm_step_up_ring.html

Q: 10. Any vignetting? I would be using 37mm macro filters on 46mm lenses. Thanks!

A: Regarding the Sensei PRO 46-37mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring, yes, using 37mm on a lens with a 46mm diameter may cause vignetting.

Functions as it should. I really needed this since many of the Multispectral Filters are available only in the 52 mm size.

It screws in the lens smoothly. And it comes with a case as well.

More sturdy than plastic and less likely to be damaged in cross-threading. Though aluminum may bend, if reasonably careful is less likely to break than other plastic rings.

What can I say? It seems to be well-constructed, and using it is much less expensive than buying more 57 mm filters.
