Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is AKTIV8 Sachtler appropriate for a PXW-Z750 with 5 pound lens with a 96w battery? Wondering if I need to step up to Aktiv10.

A: The Sachtler aktiv8 will support up to 26lb payload weight. The Camera is 9lbs and the lens is 5lbs. You would still have room for more equipment. I think the Active8 would be fine. But the Aktiv10 would also support up to 26lb payloads however it has a more stable strong 100mm bowl fitting for the head. The Aktiv8 head would be amaller at 75mm.

Q: 2. What's the deference between aktiv8 & 6 ?

A: The Sachtler aktiv6 has a 0-17.6 lb / 0-8 kg payload and 3 levels of drag settings, while the aktiv8 has a 0-26.5 lb / 0-12 kg payload and 7 levels of drag settings. Both heads feature 15 levels of counterbalance and a 75mm bowl with SpeedSwap base.

Q: 3. Canon 1.4 extender work with Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens

A: I dont have the older version of the canon 100-400 mm is lens so I really cant comment on that pair up. I do use the extender on the newer 100-400Lmm ISii usm lens. The image quality is not excellent, however, there are a couple of draw backs: a.) the weight becomes more difficult to hand hold and 2.) you can only use a single focusing point and that single focus group point cant be repositioned.

Q: 4. can you use two extenders stacked together?

A: You can BUT, it is not recommended at all. Image quality would greatly suffer and you would lose about 3-4 stops of light.

Q: 5. How would this head work with a dana dolly system?

A: The Dana Dolly Kit comes with 75, 100, and 150mm bowl adapters. The aktiv6 head is compatible with the 75mm bowl adapter.

Q: 6. Hi, I have a Canon EOS 5DS R, a Canon EF 1.4x III Extender and a Sigma 150-600mm Sport (Latest sofware). When I attach the Extender and lens to the camera I get an error message(Err 01 Communications between the camera and lens is faulty. Clean the contacts),I can not use this combination, strangely I do not get this error message when I attach the Canon EF 2x III extender, Autofocus does not function but iI can focus manually and take photos. Has anyone else had the same problem?

A: I use my 1.4 extender on a Canon 80 D and it works fine. I can't really give you an answer. Sorry. Could be its not a Canon lens?

Q: 7. What are the issues, if any, using the Canon Extender EF 1.4x III with Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 EF IS lens on a Canon 6D Mark II camera? Looking through the Q&A's I can't find any regarding using this combination on a 6D Mark II.

A: This combination will work. The downside is only the central focus points will work, and the maximum aperture is 8, but you will be able to autofocus and take pictures.

Q: 8. Will the 1.4 extender work with my Canon50D combined with the 100x400 IS L glass old version? And will it AF in good lighting situations?

A: It works well with my 100-400 IS & no problem with AF.

Q: 9. I have a Canon EOS 60D with firmware version 1.1.2. Using a Canon EF 100-400 IS f/4.5-5.6L lens (the older version) will I have autofocus? If so, how many points of focus?

A: No you will not have auto focus

Q: 10. will this work with a eos r ?

A: Yes, if you use the EF-RF lens adapter.
