This 1.25" 9nm O-III Super-G CMOS Filter from Alpine Astronomical is designed for observing and photographing planetary nebulae, supernova remnants, and many large emission nebulae. Its 9nm FWHM and CMOS-optimized coatings deliver high visual contrast against the sky background and a 97% transmission rate for the emission line at 500.7nm. The filter can be used photographically from f/1.8 to f/12 without passing any light of the H-beta line, making it ideal for areas with high light pollution. The mounted filter features a Reflex-Blocker hard coating, plano-optical polishing, and Life-Coat sealed edges.

Antireflective CoatingReflex-Blocker Hard Coated, Dielectrically Coated, Plano-Optically Polished

  • Increased contrast, matched for typical CMOS quantum efficiency and s/n ratio
  • Reflex-Blocker coatings for freedom from halos, even under most adverse conditions concerning aux-optics
  • Identical filter thickness to existing standards, with utmost care for parfocality
  • Blackened edges all around, with filter-lead-side-indicator in the form of a black frontside outer rim to eliminate any reflection due to light falling onto the edge of a filter
  • Each filter coated individually, with sealed coating edge (not cut out of a larger plate with coatings left exposed)
  • Life-Coat: hard coatings to enable a non-aging coating for life, even in a most adverse environment

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Anyone know how this compares to the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens, aside form the f2 vs f4.5.?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/2 FE Zero-D Lens would have a shorter minimum focusing distance of 5.91" and a removable lens hood over this Voigtlander lens.

Q: 2. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: No, the Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III Lens for Sony E is not weather-sealed.

Q: 3. Does the lens on the Sony A7rii have auto (stop down) aperture?

A: No.

Q: 4. Is it working well with M8? Do I need to use along with the IR filter and a 21mm view finder?

A: The Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III Lens is compatible for use with the Leica M8. If you use infrared cut filters on your other lenses on your Leica M8, then it would also be recommended for this lens. The B+W 58mm UV/IR Cut MRC 486M Filter, B&H # BW486MC58, would be a good option for your usage needs. While the 21mm viewfinder is slightly narrower than the cropped field of view of the 15mm lens (15mm x 1.33 = 19.95mm), it is the closest viewfinder focal length and will work for framing your subject; just note that it will slightly crop in on the scene.

Q: 5. Can this lens be used on the NEX 7?

A: Works nicely on a Alpha 7II

Q: 6. how do I attach this lens to a GH5?

A: There are no lens adapters for mounting an E-mount lens like this to a Micro Four Thirds camera like the GH5.

Q: 7. Are normal 58mm Filters usable on this lens? Filters stacking isnt possible I think without vignetting or? I would like to use it with ND filters for landscape.

A: I am using an old Canon 58mm UV-Haze, not the slim type, and found no vignetting on Sony A7R.

Q: 8. What are the uses of a 15 mm lense like the Voightlander , is this a good street photography lense? How does this stack up to a 35mm Zeiss lense.

A: You could use this lens for applications such as street photography, architecture, landscapes, and so forth.

Q: 9. Does this work on Canon 7s renge finders from the 60s? They take a 39mm screw mount but not sure on threads and focal distance. Thanks

A: No, the Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III Lens is not compatible for use on the Canon 7s 35mm Rangefinder Camera. The Voigtlander Super Wide-Heliar 15mm f/4.5 Aspherical III Lens uses the Leica M-mount bayonet mount whereas the Canon 7s uses the Leica M39 screw mount. Unfortunately, we have no lens mount adapters that convert the Leica M bayonet mount to the Leica M39 screw mount for your usage needs. However, while not identical, if you are looking for a lens with a similar focal length, you may purchase the FotodioX Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Nikon F-Mount Lens to M39-Mount Camera, B&H # FOPLMANFLM39, along with either the IRIX 15mm f/2.4 Blackstone Lens for Nikon F, B&H # IR15BSN, the Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro Lens for Nikon F, B&H # VE1540N, or the Venus Optics Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens for Nikon F (Silver), B&H # VE1228NAIS, for your usage needs.

Q: 10. Now, it's May 19th. Any idea when this lens will be available?
