Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with a Canon EF50mm f/1.8 STM lens? I have 58mm filters.

A: No. Zeiss/Hasselblad only.

Q: 2. Does this work with older Wolverine (non-revolution) filters?

A: Yes, the Kase Wolverine Revolution Magnetic Step-Up Ring (82-95mm) is compatible with both Wolverine and Revolution line of filters.

Q: 3. Can you use a lens hood with this?

A: Yes, you can attach a 72mm lens hood to this step-up ring. Here are two to consider. B+W 72mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood B&H # BWLHR72 and Sensei 72mm Quick Clip Lens Hood B&H # SELNQC72

Q: 4. Is the description backwards? This looks like it allows one to use a 72mm filter on a 67mm lens. Why would you use a filter that is smaller than the lens?

A: The description is correct; a step-down ring allows you to use smaller filters on larger-diameter lenses. There are a few reasons as to why, for example, to save on the cost of buying filters again if you already own a lot of them in the smaller size. Also, if the lenses have a very narrow field-of-view, the visible vignette might not be significant and not influence the photo that much.

Q: 5. will this lens hood be visible in the photos using the Tamron 24-70mm? Im not sure if at wide angle will show the hood.

A: I'm using the 77mm version of this hood on a Nikon D300s with the Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8G zoom lens, and there's no absolutely trace of vignetting at all. Note that the D300s is a half-frame DX camera and thus has a narrower effective field of view. If you're using a full-frame camera, you can tape some heavy paper around your lens that extends 22mm past the lens's filter-mounting ring to be sure that there will be no vignetting on your particular camera/lens combination.

Q: 6. Does it come in something to store it in?

A: Yes, the Sensei PRO 58-67mm aluminum step-up ring comes in a clear protective case.

Q: 7. Could I use this 72-82mm Magnetic Step-Up Ring to add Freewell 82mm Magnetic Quick-Swap Circular Polarizer Filter?

A: Yes, you can use this Freewell Magnetic Step-Up Ring for VND System (72-82mm) BH #FRSUR7282MVN to add Freewell 82mm Magnetic Quick-Swap Circular Polarizer Filter.

Q: 8. Is it made in japan?

A: This ring is made in China.

Q: 9. What is the height protrusion of the ring above the lens?

A: Sensei PRO 72-67mm Aluminum Step-Down Ring is 3.5mm tall above the threads.

Q: 10. Can the PolarPro 67-82 step up ring be used with a Breakthrough ND filter?

A: Yes, as long as the thread size matches.

So far, the threads have not bound. Worth it to buy brass instead of aluminum!

As I machinist I can appreciate good quality brass threads. Much less chance to seize with this ring over it's aluminum counterparts. Gets the job done!

This brass ring is well made and the price was more reasonable than other brands. I am told that a ring made from brass will have less chance of thread seizing than an aluminum ring.
