Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is Ronin S compatable with Panasonic HCX 1000?

A: The Ronin S lists Mirrorless and DSLR cameras as compatible. We will need to wait for it has been released and tested to see if it can balance a smaller camcorder like the HC-X1000.

Q: 2. Sony A9

A: You can currently use the IR cable to control shutter and start/stop control and we are in the process of expanding our compatibility list to allow USB shutter control.

Q: 3. I Have a canon t6i and a kit 18-55 mm lens and a BG-E18 battery grip with 2 batteries, will this setup be on the heavier side and strain the motors?

A: Hi Ryan! Both Matthew and Ben made solid points. I would say the battery grip would be the most troublesome part of your kit because of the added height. I also wanted to mention that if you shoot mostly on the wide end, the Ronin SC might also accommodate your set up, although the Ronin S has more wiggle-room for larger lenses and combinations.

Q: 4. Will this work with Blackmagic Pocket 6k with Tilta Full Cage so I can attach the Samsung T5 Hard Drive?

A: Yes, there should be no issues with this configuration.

Q: 5. Can the Canon C100 work on the Ronin-S as far as weight and setup? I also have a prime cinema lens. Weight capacity may be 8lbs

A: Ive used it witch the c100 mk2 and it worked find. Kept the hand grip off but the top grip with the mic was on too with a shotgun mic and a monitor. It holds some weight

Q: 6. I just got mine and have it balanced well. however when I try to do a roll in flashlight mode the other arms move and block the gimbal from spinning. if I have it standing up, it rolls fine aiming the lens straight up. any ideas?

A: Also make sure your pan axis is balanced correct. I couldnt get flashlight mode to work and everything was correct but turns out my pan axis was a bit off balance and I thought it was good. With the motors off you should be able to tilt the gimbal 45 degrees left or right without it spinning on the pan axis (the lowest axis, the one that touches the grip is pan axis)

Q: 7. There are a few options for robin-s. What would be the minimal kit required to work with 5D Mark II with Zeiss Makro-Planar 50mm?

A: For use with the Ronin S and a 5D Mark II with Manual Zeiss lens, we would recommend the DJI Ronin-S/SC Focus (SKU: WheelDJCPRN000801) and the DJI Ronin-S Focus Motor (SKU: DJFOCUSP17). bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1444752-REG/dji_cp_rn_00000008_01_ronin_s_focus_wheel.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1447211-REG/dji_cp_rn_00000022_01_ronin_s_part_17_focus.html

Q: 8. Can this be used successfully in a helicopter with doors off?

A: Why not? Just secure it like any other device.

Q: 9. Does anyone know if DJI is going to support the Ronin s with a connecting cable to the Canon R5?

A: We are not made aware of future plans that DJI may have to support additional cameras.

Q: 10. Can the dji ronin-S support a Nikon D5 with a 70-300 lens? I have noticed that the B&H video demo uses a Sony mirrorless DSLR.

A: Hey Placido. We've successfully tested the D5 with Ronin-S, but not with that specific lens setup. More testing needs to be done to verify perfect compatibility.
