Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone tried using this to convert the signal from a Red Komodo to DJI's Eagle Eye wireless transmitter on the Ronin S2?

A: While in theory this would work fine to turn an SDI signal out of the Red Komodo in to HDMI we are not aware of any specific tests on it or how it could be rigged up to the Ronin RS-2.

Q: 2. Does anyone know what is the length of USB-C power cord? From the product picture, power cord is not replaceable so I would like to know the length otherwise I may have to go with the non power cord version and get my own USB-C power cord and adaptor.

A: It's about 59 inches long.

Q: 3. How long of an SDI cable run can I expect? Trying to do a multi-camera baseball game and have to cover some long distances. Wireless transmitters are out of my budget and I already have the cables.

A: SDI cables can run up to 196 feet before experiencing noticeable signal drops. You can use SDI repeaters or distribution amplifiers to increase the range of your SDI run.

Q: 4. Does this work with the BMD Studio Micro camera control. The same way as with the Pocket cameras?

A: At the moment it does not. This will be addressed in a future update.

Q: 5. Will this device A) Allow the Ursa Mini Pro to connect to the ATEM Pro, and B) Allow features like the DaVinci Resolve Color Code Primary, and Color Corrector?

A: Yes, this device will allow you to convert your URSA Mini Pro's SDI output to HDMI and connect it to an ATEM Mini Pro or any other ATEM switcher with an HDMI input. This converter model doesn't support the camera control features, but the Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G does.

Q: 6. I have a Panasonic HC-X2000. I would like to connect it in the following manner: camera (SDI) out to this converter SDI in, then HDMI OUT to a monitor & SDI LOOP OUT to ATEM SDI PRO ISO. Is this possible? I'm currently only getting a signal on the monitor (HDMI IN).

A: That set-up should work. Contact Blackmagic or B&H support if the problem persists.

Q: 7. Does Blackmagic Representative's answer to my previous question on HDR metadata support on this unit refers to Dolby Vision only, or HDR10 and HLG general?

A: HDR video will be passed from SDI to HDMI in tact but there will not be any flags or metadata passed to the HDMI. You would need to set the monitor or display manually for the specific HDR mode.

Q: 8. Good day, what are the notable differences with this 3G one compared to the previous HDMI to SDI Micro Converter model?

A: Newly designed with more video standards and timecode support.

Q: 9. I am trying to run the HDMI output from a Sony CX405 handheld camera to this BM HDMI to SDI 3G converter - then into a BM HyperDeck Studio Mini. The HyperDeck Mini is not recognizing the SDI out of the converter- but the output from the camera does display on a TV. Do I need to adjust settings on the camera?

A: We would suggest starting with a software update on the following converter. This should allow the unit to be recognized and push a signal through. If this does not work we suggest getting in contact with Black Magic support team directly.

Q: 10. Do the HDMI to SDI micro converters have a nominal SDI dB or dBm output spec?

A: Black Magic does not provide this info unfortunately. However the SDI port is a standard 3G-SDI connection.
