Q: 1. Hey can it work with a hp z820 workstation.my workstation has a thunderbolt port?

A: I did have to download software from there site so if I were you I'd just go on there and make sure they have it available for windows. Other then that it performs great

Q: 2. There are two Thunderbolt inputs on the back, are both required to use in Raid5?

A: No... you only need 1 in order to run Raid 5.

Q: 3. Do the drives come with this?

A: Yes. That is why it is labeled 20TB

Q: 4. What’s the difference between the 3.0 and 3.1 USB version of the drive?

A: The difference between the two different versions of the LaCie 2TB Rugged Mini USB 3.0 External Hard Drive comes down to the USB connection, the version with the USB 3.1 connection will support higher potential data transfer speeds than the USB 3.0 version of the drive.

Q: 5. Will this work with the GH5 and the 12-35mm lens? I know it's not advertised as such, but do you think it'll fit the GH5?

A: This will not fit the Panasonic GH5. For the GH5 we have options from both Camvate and Smallrig designed specifically for that camera instead. Camvate - https://bhpho.to/2R7zqqr Smallrig - https://bhpho.to/2NFKau9

Q: 6. Would this fit a Canon EOS M200? Thanks

A: It does't fit.

Q: 7. I will like to know which drives are western digital using inside this, green, red, blue or purple?

A: WD does not specify which drive is inside the 14TB Elements Desktop Drive, and the type of drive used may vary. B&H is not made aware of the various revisions within a model number.

Q: 8. if I need to use a usb 2.0 port, does it come with a power cable?

A: No. No Power Connection needed. It draws power from Computer. Connect the USB cable to your Computer, Format the Disk and Use.

Q: 9. Does it support MacBook? What is the file system format?

A: With a reformat you would be able to use this hard drive with Mac OS/.

Q: 10. In Raid 5, if a drive fails, what is the process to rebuild back to where you were before the failure?

A: Through software drive will tell you which drive is bad, hardware will indicate by flashing red or something. You then swap it out with a new drive exactly the same size and brand and then wait for a very very long time, sometimes several days for it to completely to rebuild. This is true for all RAID5 drives not just this one. But I would stay away from LaCie altogether, Ive had issues with several LaCie products over the years. I purchased two of these 30TB drives and sent them both back because the specs are mislabeled by the company. When the first drive wasnt running up to spec support claimed that the drive must be bad. I sent it back and ordered another from a different vendor and the issue was the same. Through several days of back and forth LaCie tech support we were finally able to get the drive to run up to spec for a very brief time and this was ONLY if the drive was completely empty and only on the data write side, the read side was never better than 3/4 of the spec, and the read side the important side for me because I need to play back 4K video. The turnaround time including receiving, returning and getting credited back my money for the first drive and then doing it all over ended up costing me about 2 months time. Imagine how infuriating it was to be grossly mislead by the LaCie engineers (tech support) telling me that it was an issue with the hardware and letting me go through the same process twice. I mean they know what the product can do and what I needed to do, I was confused as how they thought they were going to get away with it? Suspiciously there was an update to the firmware while I was going through the second round with them but this did not solve the issue.
