A: (cross posting). The batteries are interchangeable. The LP-E4 and LP-E19 have the same form factor and contacts. The LP-E4 will work in the 1DX Mark II at reduced camera performance. You can use the LP-E19 backward to the 1D Mark III but to get full battery performance you need the new charger. Otherwise the old charger will only charge to the performance level of the LP-E4 that it was designed for. Q: 3. Can this battery be used in a Canon 1DsIII?

A: Canon currently lists the current generation of 1D-cameras (1Dx Mk III) as being the only camera compatible with the LP-E19. However, the LP-E4, LP-E4N, and LP-E19 share the same physical dimensions/configuration and likely this battery will be compatible with the 1Ds Mk III, but we currently have no way of confirming.
