The FMCI Series FMCI-AF1MM1ST 10/100 Mbps Ethernet-Optical Fiber Media Converter from Pelco is designed to transmit 10/100 Mbps data over multimode optical fiber with ST optical connector. The electrical interface will auto-negotiate to a 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps Ethernet rate without any adjustments and the optical interface operates at a 100 Mbps Ethernet rate. This FMCI series media converter is environmentally hardened to operate in extreme temperatures. LED indicators are provided for rapidly ascertaining equipment operating status and monitoring critical operating parameters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long of a run can this handle?

A: Depending on what type of fiber cable you are using, distances can be hundreds of feet to many miles.

Q: 2. Is the bidirectionality simultaneous? Or is it one or the other?

A: The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G-SDI is multi-rate and has bidirectional capability.

Q: 3. Is there a rack shelf accessory for this?

A: The ShieldRock Rack10 works well. You can also add-on a single power supply, power splitters, and DC barrel cables if you want it all super-organized.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with Blackmagic Design ATEM Camera Converter?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the ATEM Camera Converter. You will still need to get the Optical Module Adapter separately.

Q: 5. Can this run off a battery?

A: Yes. Comes with an AC to 12V DC power supply so you can run on 12V DC if you do not have reason to use any other voltage within the specified 6-36V DC. Just be careful not to mix the polarity, I am not sure its reverse polarity protected.

Q: 6. Does this support a bidi SFP? If so which one/which brands would be compatible?

A: The StarTech Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Media Converter BH #STMCM1110MML does not support BiDi SFP.

Q: 7. Does it come with a power supply?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. Device states "Multi-Rate", does that mean I can use 1G SFP's just to transmit 3G-SDI signal?

A: According to Blackmagic Design, "Multi-Rate" is in reference to the various supported resolutions and frame rates. Only 3G, 6G, and 12G SDI SFPs will work.

Q: 9. Can I use this in simplex, just one LC connector? After adding a module of course.

A: Yes, that should work.

Q: 10. Does this work with the Blackmagic Design Studio Fiber Converter?

A: No. The Studio Fiber Converter can only connect to the Camera Fiber Converter using a SMPTE fiber cable. The signal is not compatible with the Mini Converter Optical Fiber.
