Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this support a bidi SFP? If so which one/which brands would be compatible?

A: The StarTech Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Media Converter BH #STMCM1110MML does not support BiDi SFP.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the Blackmagic Design BMD-CONVMOF, the standard Optical Fiber Mini Converter?

A: Yes, it's compatible.

Q: 3. Is the bidirectionality simultaneous? Or is it one or the other?

A: The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G-SDI is multi-rate and has bidirectional capability.

Q: 4. Does this aplifying the SDI signal or just transsfering?

A: This mini converter converts SDI to optical Fiber and will also convert optical fiber back to SDI. For long runs, you can have one at each end or directly connect fiber to many of the Blackmagic products.

Q: 5. Can this run off a battery?

A: Yes. Comes with an AC to 12V DC power supply so you can run on 12V DC if you do not have reason to use any other voltage within the specified 6-36V DC. Just be careful not to mix the polarity, I am not sure its reverse polarity protected.

Q: 6. Does this support tally data?

A: Yes, it does. The tally, signal will come in the return feed from an Atem Switcher to any number of Black Magic Cameras & Studio Viewfinders. The Mini Converter Optical Fiber 12G, will pass the signals: Both SDI to optical and optical to SDI. It will pass the Tally information that is embedded in that signal, that comes from an Atem switcher passes through the Mini Converter Optical Fiber and then to a supported Blackmagic Camera. ( URSA Broadcast/ URSA Mini Pro / Studio Cameras / Pocket Cinema Cameras).

Q: 7. Will this work with Multi Mode fiber? Has anyone tried?

A: I have not tried this, but the adapter does not come with a SFP module so it would be worth a try. They recommend SMF because it loses less than MMF. I used 10Gtek 10G-SFP-LR modules and they work great. Blackmagic says it works with any SFP modules so I imagine it will work with MMF but no guarantees.

Q: 8. Does this support Talkback on the ATEM TV Studio 4K?

A: Yes it is compatible with the ATEM Talkback system.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with Blackmagic Design ATEM Camera Converter?

A: Yes, it is compatible with the ATEM Camera Converter. You will still need to get the Optical Module Adapter separately.

Q: 10. Is there a rack shelf accessory for this?

A: The ShieldRock Rack10 works well. You can also add-on a single power supply, power splitters, and DC barrel cables if you want it all super-organized.

Using this to connect two Behringer S16 digital stage boxes to an X32 mixer. Ver easy to connect, wrap and store, and the metal housing on each end is very sturdy.
