A 50 mm lens would require 3 o 4 sets of these rings. In general,you can focus down to an area the size of a post card (1:4), but not a postage stamp.(1:1), and the quality suffers. You would be better off with a macro lens, like a Nikon 55/.28 Micro-Nikkor plus a PK13 Nikon extension tube, which are relatively inexpensive used.
