Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be used to expose cyanotypes?

A: To our knowledge, this lamp head has not been tested specifically with exposing cyanotypes.

Q: 2. How loud is the light when running?

A: The fans on the Eliminator Lighting Mini PAR RGBW LED Light have been known to get a little noisy.

Q: 3. Can this light be programmed so that only the blue lights show and not the white?

A: This is a black light UV fixture there is no color (9 x Ultraviolet LED - 1 W 3 x White LED - 1 W)

Q: 4. How does this light compare to the Chauvet Slim Par 56?

A: Not even close. This light is at least 50% smaller and has a cheap noisy fan in it. The Chauvet is a much more dependable light and much better documented. With this one, be prepared to hunt around on the internet for instructions on how to program it, as no manual was included with either of my lights. (esp if using DMX) I ordered 2 and 1 failed within a day. At $25, it's not even worth attempting to return since it's a third party shipper. I'll put it this way, in the last year I've purchased 4 Chauvet Par 56 LED and 16 Chauvet Par 64s LEDs and only 2 of these from B&H and the one of these that works is still in my closet.

Q: 5. Does the light from this unit flicker on video?

A: Yes, the Blizzard LB-Par Quad RGBW LED Light is a flicker-free unit.

Q: 6. Can this light be used as a static, constant light source (say for example I want to light a wall with a warm white light), or do they only cycle/strobe?

A: Yes, it can be constant.

Q: 7. Can they be manually dimmed? I want to use without a light board.

A: No, it cannot. The Pegasus6 would have to either be controlled by a mains controller board to be controlled via a phase cut dimming system or it must be controlled by a DMX controller.

Q: 8. Dimming capability is only confirmed with a "Yes" -- but is it 0-100%? 10-100%? Stepless?

A: The intensity for the Ikan Lyra LCX21 RGBW LED 1 x 2 Soft Panel, has been confirmed for a range of 0%-100%. It can increase in increments of 1%.

Q: 9. How many lumens at 100% ?

A: The manufacture does not have it rated in Lumens but in Lux and Candles. It is, 65 fc / 700 Lux at 6.56' / 2 m

Q: 10. Can this light be used without a DMX board and dimmed independently from a knob or menu setting no the fixture?

A: Based on the manual, you can set a dimming curve manually using the onboard buttons. For most optimal flexibility, a dmx console would be recommended.

Red...Green...Blue...White...Cyan...Magenta...Amber...Orange...you pick and choose.

Fire up DMX and not only do you have a nice color palette, but unlike nearly every derby effect light out there you can actually dim the intensity of each color! Really works well when combined with static lighting to get just enough movement blended into your look.

Loving it so far!

I own two of the half-sized versions of this light (4x36) and they give such a gentle, soft light that I had to get this one. I didn't disappoint - strong luminance and a great CRI make this similar to an ARRI Skylight (without the color control - but I rarely need that).

On top of that, this light comes in a great semi-hard case that protects it well for transport. Ultimately, if you need a great soft light and don't want to spend $$$, this is the way to go.

I own 4 of the 4 version of this lamp. On a recent presentation production they were just barely adequate for lighting my set. They were about 10' from the talent strung out from an overhead truss. I love the flatness and uniformity of illumination I can create with these strip lamps.
Look at the LUX specifications on the 4 and 8 models. The 8 is 2.75 times brighter. AND it has a wireless remote control option you should add to your order. Set lighting is getting less expensive and more versatile. I loved the 4 model, but the extra illumination from the 8 version is worth the extra cost.

Despite the confusion in the Q&A above, this does have a fan on the bottom, see picture. It's *much* quieter than either of the two ADJ Dekker models which are the closest comparison I'm aware of. RGBW light quality is identical to those, although with a different dimming curve and strobe timing. The CMYO beams are projected opposing RGBW not mixed with them, which is a neat effect (see other picture of blue and orange channels from a single fixture). Be warned that if you're using SoundSwitch for DMX control, controlling CMYO requires attribute cues not simple color/intensity automation.

There are a couple issues with the manual, if I could take off half a star for them I would. The cyan and magenta channels are swapped, and the description of the movement channel could be better. The manual says 001-255, motor speed slow to fast. More accurate would be 0-127 indexed positions, 128-255 fast to slow then slow to fast direction and rotation.

The constant rotation gives you a much wider range of movement options vs the ADJ Dekkers, although there's no automated back and forth thus more programming required if you want a basic derby effect (requires attribute cues in SoundSwitch which is kind of a pain).
