Q: 1. Do you have to use Silverfast to do scanning or can you use something like Photoshop Elements or Photoshop (full)?

A: You can also purchase VueScan. However, SilverFast doesn't have to be difficult to use. The automatic image processing really works well and if you follow a few basic steps, it's pretty easy to use. The editing power is also there if you want to do serious editing. Q: 2. Is this compatible with Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1?

A: Yes, the Plustek OpticFilm 8200i Ai Film Scanner would be compatible for use with the macOS 12 Monterey operating system. If needed, you may download the OpticFilm 8200i AI Installer For Patch V3.0.0.7 (released on February 22, 2022) from the Support tab on Plustek's website for macOS 12.x. Their website does instruct to please install the SilverFast software (by bundled DVD or current latest version) firstly, and then install this patch.

Q: 3. Does this scanner have the equivalent to Nikon's Digital ROC automatic color correction for faded slides? My 4000ED worked great until Windows 21H2 build, so now I need a new scanner.

Q: 9. I am currently running and Epson V800 using SilverFast Ai 8.8 on an iMac. I’m interested in getting the Plustek 8200i Ai to handle my 35mm film scans using the supplied SilverFast software. My question is will I have any concerns when installing and using the software since I already have it installed on my Imac. My goal is to be able to easily run both scanners (not consecutively) from the same interface.

A: You should be fine. You will be able to install the software on two computers but not run it at the same time.

Q: 10. Does this scanner capture ALL of the image surface of slides? I've had slide scanner that do not capture the entire frame of the slide and it needs to be scanned multiple times and edited later, not good.

A: yes
