Designed for up to 8K cine-style image capture, the white Micro Four Thirds-mount 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens from IRIX incorporates multiple internal and external design features. This compact 15mm lens will produce a classic wide-angle look and is compatible with full-frame 35, Super35, RED DRAGON 6K, ARRI ALEXA, APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, Super 16, and additional sensors. External features include a 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gears, luminous focus marks in feet, and a detachable 1/4"-20 support foot.

Internally, nine blades produce smooth, rounded bokeh, and four seals protect against inclement weather and dust. To help eliminate aberrations and distortion, the IRIX 15mm T2.6 Cine Lens is constructed with 15 optical elements, including three HRI (high refractive index), two ED (extra-low dispersion), and two ASP (aspherical). An adaptive focus ring delivers smooth focusing, whether used manually or with a lens motor. This lightweight, aluminum/magnesium alloy lens has 180° of focus and 75° of iris rotation, plus an 86mm front filter thread.

The IRIX Cine 15mm is a wide 43.3mm full-frame lens that uses 15 optical elements, including three high refractive index (HRI), two extra low-dispersion glass (ED), and two aspheric (ASP) elements, to create crisp cinematic shots in resolutions up to 8K while keeping the focus breathing at a minimum. This lens features a relatively fast T2.6 maximum aperture and can be stopped down to T22.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Planning to use this on Canon 5D Mark IV, for those of you shooting video with this lens, how happy are you with it's performance?

A: don't think twice about it. Used it a lot on a ursa mini 4.6K, even with slr magic anamorphot. great lens for the price.

Q: 2. Comparing the specs of this lens and the Rokinon 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC Lens, is there much difference between the two other than their minimum focusing distance? I.e. What's the reason for this lens being close to $200 more expensive than its AS IF sibling? Cheers.

A: Samyang is a South Korean manufacturer that makes the Samyang, Rokinon, Bower and other lens lines. Generally, all the lenses can be counted on having very good quality at very affordable prices. The Rokinon DS (Dual Side focus markings) is the top of line of their small cine lenses. (This is not counting their Xeen line of cinema lenses.) Besides the dual side markings, the coatings on the lenses in the DS line are matched for ease in color grading. If you feel you need these features you can purchase them and possibly retain greater resale value. If not, you can save.

Q: 3. What is the image circle?

A: The Rokinon 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens will cover Full Frame sensors.

Q: 4. Am I correct in my thinking that the T on this cine lens is the equivalent of the F on a photographic lens? If so, at T1.5 is it safe to assume that this would be good in really low light on a 5D Mk3?

A: The short answer is yes. This lens is great in low light on 5DIII. Having said that, F-stop and T-stop are not exactly equivalent, although you can still think of it that way. F-stop measure the size of the opening of a lens, while T-top measures the how much light passes through the lens. Because lenses have different characteristics, two different lenses set to f/4 might let in a slightly different amount of light. On the other hand, two lenses with the same T-stop will let in exactly the same amount of light, making it easier to match shots taken with two different lenses. That's why T-stop is a better than F-stop for film production, and is therefore the standard on cine lenses. If this is confusing or you're just curious to learn more, do a google search for t-stop vs f-stop. There's a lot of info out there.

Q: 5. Can I use this with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K or do I need an adapter ring of some sort?

A: This is an EF mount lens and the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K has an MFT mount. You would want the Rokinon 50mm T1.5 AS UMC Cine DS Lens for Micro Four Thirds instead, BH #RO5015M43. https://bhpho.to/2Zfkf2g

Q: 6. Does the Nikon version turn the focus ring on Nikon style, the opposite of Canon turning direction? I plan to use on a Speed Booster and the product picture sometimes can cheat us. Thanks!

A: yes, it turns like all Nikon lenses, infinity on the left of scale

Q: 7. Does this version produce sharper and better image quality than the 1.4 photo lens? Different optics?

A: This is a cinema lens. There are several differences and none of them are to do with sharpness. First cinema lenses are measured in T stops not F stops. This means that they calculate into the equation how much light the optics lets through (T stops let in more light than F stops). Second, the gear rings are different so that you can put a follow focus on it. Third it has a click less aperture for smooth adjustments during filming. Fourth it has the UMC coating which gives you a little different, more cinematic colors.A Rokinon lens will be as sharp as a Rokinon lens is. That's not a knock, I think they're pretty great for their price.

Q: 8. if this is 50mm on full frame, what is the focal length equivalent when using this on a Super 35 camera like the FS7?

A: 85ish

Q: 9. Would this lens fit Canon 70D mount?

A: Answer to this and every other will it fit my camera question: if you have a Canon SLR (even late model film model) this lens will work. Period. Yes to the 70D, 60D, 50D, 40D, every Rebel (T2i etc) body, your 1D, 5D, 7D, mark I through mark infinity. If your camera has a EF mount it will work (and Canon has been using EF on all of their SLR cameras since the EIGHTIES)!

Q: 10. is this mean that I do not need metabones to using this lens? since its already for MFT?

A: If you have a camera with an MFT mount, you will not need an adapter to use this MFT Mount Lens.
