A: You can also purchase VueScan. However, SilverFast doesn't have to be difficult to use. A: The scanner's highest scanning resolution is 7200dpi, and based on some slides I scanned recently that yields an image that is approximately 9300 x 6300, give or take a hundred or two pixels on each side. So just under a 60 megapixel image. The file format you save the image as does not affect the amount of pixels. TIFF is the uncompressed format you can scan.The scanner lets you scan at smaller resolutions as well, which yields smaller and more manageable file sizes.
