A: John, you can see the single row of stitches because the thread is bright green in color. What you don't see are the other black stitches in an X pattern surrounded with more black stitches in a square pattern around the X at all 4 attachment points, plus the 2 more rows of stitches holding pockets in the front and a binding ribbon along the back. I don't think you will be disappointed with the stitching. It really is a well designed and well constructed bag.
