A: Jim is correct. To charge the battery, you would insure the mode switch on the unit is set to "BATTERY." Connect the charger/adapter to the unit, and while charging, the standby indicator will illuminate ORANGE, which indicates the unit is charging. When charging is complete, the standby indicator will illuminate RED. It takes approximately 6 hours to fully charge the battery.

A: It would be awkward to use an Iphone for composition, etc... as well as loss of image quality for enlargements. You would be much better off using a dslr on a tripod set in a stable position to enable bulk slide copying. A macro lens would be ideal for this type of setup.
