Designed with a strain wave gear reducer and synchronous belt for precise control, the ZWO AM3 Harmonic Equatorial GoTo Mount offers alt-az operation for observation and go-to equatorial tracking, via an app or a hand controller, for astrophotography. The mount weighs just 8.6 pounds but can support payloads up to 17.6 pounds on its own or 28.7 pounds with a user-supplied counterweight and shaft. A brake system ensures the mount won't topple in the event of a power failure. The mount runs on a user-supplied 12V 3A power supply and is compatible with ASCOM and ZWO's ASIAIR platforms.

  • Weighs 8.6 pounds
  • Supports 17.6 pounds without counterweight
  • Payload increases to 28.7 pounds with optional counterweight

    • Strain-wave gearing system comes with very low periodic errors, smooth gearing, and high torque
    • Reduction ratio is 300:1
    • Each mount is tested and shipped with a periodic error curve report

      • Capable of both equatorial and alt-azimuth modes
      • Suitable for both visual and imaging
      • Elevation angle of 0-90°
      • Can be used anywhere from the equator to the polar regions

        • Red light is displayed for equatorial mount mode
        • Green light is displayed for alt-azimuth mode
        • If the mount has no synchronization, the indicator light flashes alternately red and green, and the corresponding color indicator light will be displayed according to the mode after synchronization

          • Can be controlled via the included hand controller or via mobile phone or tablet using the AM5 app
          • App offers an onscreen joystick combined with convenient tools including Best Objects of the Evening, a built in star map with real-time display and GOTO functions
          • There is no need to connect to a computer—the mount and hand controller connect via Wi-Fi
          • The mount is compatible with ASCOM, INDI, ASIAIR, and other platforms

            • In the event of power failure, brakes are instantly applied to prevent the telescope and equipment from falling and resulting in damage or injury

              • Supplied from the main body power socket, this outlet can share power with devices such as ASIAIR
              • The mount is powered by a user-provided 12V 3A power supply

                Related Questions and Answers

                Q: 1. Can I use DSLR adapter?

A: Yes there is a way to connect a DSLR to this scope. I would need to know exactly which DSLR you have to recommend the proper adapters.

Q: 2. Can I attach a DSLR to this for astrophotographery?

A: To attach a camera to the Celestron CGX-L Equatorial 1100 11" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain GoTo Telescope BH #CECGXL1100SC • MFR #12071 you will need Celestron f/6.3 Reducer/Corrector BH #CERC • MFR #94175 to attach to the rear of the scope. Your camera will have a T-mount attached to your camera. Those (2) pieces will now screw together.

Q: 3. The description does not describe the telescope, only the mount. Is the Celestron 8" Newtonian is included?

A: It comes with the telescope, the Optical Tube Assembly (OTA) There is very little information available on Celestron website. 8” (200mm) f/5 optical design provides excellent wide field views Parabolic primary mirror minimizes spherical aberration to produce a better image.

Q: 4. What type of lunar and planetary imaging can I expect with the eVscope 2?

A: The Unistellar eVscope 2 114mm f/4 GoTo Reflector Telescope is fine for lunar viewing but planets will only appear as bright stars. The telescope lacks proper magnification for planetary viewing.

Q: 5. Does this scope have fastar capability? Thank you.

A: Yes. The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope is Fastar compatible.

Q: 6. What is the primary mirror wavefront error?

                A: The Celestron C8-A-XLT CGE 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (OTA Only) has a 1/4 wavefront error.

Q: 7. What mount is suitable for C8-A-XLT?

A: With an instrument load capacity of 30 lbs, the Advanced VX Mount and Tripod Item #: 91519 is a perfect match for the C8-A-XLT CGE Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube.

Q: 8. Automatic alignment seems to be a great feature. Does the scope have the ability to track objects as I am viewing them?

                A: Yes

Q: 9. Can you see planets close up with this telescope or are they far away?

A: It would be very possible to see the planets Please understand that a lot will depend on the magnification of the eyepiece and the planets orbital position to the earth

Q: 10. What is the difference between Celestron C11-A and Celestron C11. Does Celestron C11-A have any improvements?

A: Sorry but B&H no longer has a listing for the Celestron C11. only the Celestron C11-A XLT 11" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (OTA Only, CGE Dovetail) BH #CEC11AXLT • MFR #91036-XLT
