Capture stunning, high-resolution images of deep-sky objects with the ASI585MC Pro USB3.0 Color Astronomy Camera from ZWO. Equipped with a 1/1.2" Sony IMX585 color CMOS sensor, the camera achieves 8.3MP resolution with low read noise and no amp glow. The two-stage thermoelectric cooler lowers the temperature to 95°F below ambient, all but eliminating dark current noise for a clean image even with very long exposures. The USB 3.0 port accommodates the high frame rate you'll need for planetary imaging. The ASI585MC Pro requires a separately sold 12V 3-5A power supply, 5.5 x 2.1mm, center-positive.

The 1/1.2" format color sensor boasts a resolution of 3840 x 2160, while the 2.9µ pixels accommodate an impressive full well capacity of 40ke.
Using zero-glow amp circuitry, the ASI585MC Pro eliminates amp glow—a weak infrared light source often created by traditional CMOS sensors, sometimes seen in the corners of uncalibrated images. You won't have to worry about it, even during high-gain, long-exposure imaging.
The camera has a built-in HCG mode, which can effectively reduce read noise at high gain and allow the camera to maintain the same high dynamic range as it does at low gain. When the gain reaches 252, the HCG mode will be automatically turned on and the dynamic range reaches a level close to 11bit. The read noise in this case can be as low as 0.7e.
Thanks to the two-stage TEC cooling, ASI585MC Pro can lower the CMOS sensor temperature to more than 95°F below ambient temperature, which can greatly reduce dark current generation and sensor noise even during extended exposure times.
The camera features a USB-B 3.0 port that provides 5GFB bandwidth for data transfer, allowing the camera to run at 47 fps at full resolution. Two USB-A 2.0 ports allow for connection to an electronic filter wheel, an electronic autofocuser, or a guide camera.
The ASI585MC Pro comes with an assortment of connectors: one M42-M48 adapter, one M42-M48 16.5mm extender, one M42-1.25" adapter, one M42 21mm extender, and one 1.25" nosepiece, along with four extenders.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is there a bag anyone would recommend?
A: While we do not have a case that is designed specifically for this kit, two cases we carry that would be closest for a recommendation would be either the Lightware C6032 32 Cargo Case, Padded (Black), B&H # LIC6032, or the Impact Light Kit Bag #3, B&H # IMLKB3.
Q: 2. What is the difference between this SD600 and the GVM Pro SD650? According to specs, the 600 is brighter (doesn't make sense)?
A: There are four primary differences between the GVM SD600D Bi-Color LED Monolight and the GVM SD650B Bi-Color LED Monolight. The Pro SD650B's have an output of 77,300LUX, a CCT ranges from 2700-6800K,12 preset special effects, and a weight of 14.8lb. Whereas, the SD600D Bi-Color's have an output of 130,000LUX, a CCT range of 2700-7500k, 8 special effects, and a weight of 8.4 lb.
Q: 3. Does the LS 600X require a DMX terminator when at the end of the line or does it have a switch that terminates the dmx line?
A: Yes, the Aputure LS 600x Pro Bi-Color LED Monolight (V-Mount) should use a DMX Terminator if it is at the end of the line. You should always use a DMX Terminator when you get to the end of the line. This would be the correct industry practice because it eliminates any unexpected glitches that may occur from not Terminating DMX properly.
Q: 4. how long is the battery life while using the light, before you have to charge it or replace it..
A: On a set of fully charged batteries and full brightness, 45 minutes is a good guess. If you come off full bright, you should get much more out of it up to 3 hours.
Q: 5. what kind of battery fits this light unit cause it def isnt 8 AA batteries?
A: This light can be powered via the AC adapter that is included or with 8 AA batteries.
Q: 6. Does this light have a dimmer?
A: Yes this light does have a dimmer built into it.
Q: 7. Is this made in China? or where?
A: Yes. The following unit is made in China.
Q: 8. What are the exact dimensions of the case?
A: The manufacture Aputure does not list the size of the case. But it is around from the information we have 23 x 16 x 14 inches.
Q: 9. How loud is the fan?
A: The fan noise is not measured by manufacture, in general use the fan noise may be heard the most at 100% power or in hot environment.
Q: 10. How long is the articulating Gooseneck arm? and how wide can the gripper clamps open?
A: The goose neck is 23" long and the clamp can open to 2.1".
