The X-Rotator 90 Rotating Mount from Fotopro is a camera mounting bracket that can rotate a camera and lens from horizontal to vertical orientation in a fraction of the time it takes to re-position a conventional L-bracket. The 1/4-circle design also allows the camera orientation to be changed without affecting the lens position, so the shot does not need to be recomposed. This lightweight and durable camera mount is made of precision CNC-machined aluminum and features a camera mounting platform with adjustable height for a custom fit. The X-Rotator 90 has a load capacity of 11 lb and is compatible with lenses with a diameter of up to 3.7".

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. But can the 1/4 - 20 lug on top be taken out and then a 1/4 -20 screw be screwed into it from the top? I guess what I'm asking is if the hole on top is threaded.

A: The Rotator has a standard 1/4 male thread and it is not designed to take that out and be used direct with a male thread. It is 3/8ths female thread any way.

Q: 2. What is the degree of detent interval? The description and the picture are different.

A: There are 4 different degrees of intervals according to the Sunwayfoto website; 8, 12, 15, and 18.

Q: 3. Does this come with L bracket, clamp and plate seen in the images.

A: Yes, it comes with everything that is pictured.

Q: 4. What size screws fit the threaded holes in the TOP? I'd like to be able to mount something extra to it with two screws. They should be the same size as the ones that are used to mount the arca swiss plate to the bottom.

A: The top holes are 1/4-20" and the bottom holes are both 1/4-20" and 3/8".

Q: 5. Can this be used to replace the rotator on a Nodal Ninja 3?

A: Looking over the Nodal Ninja rotator models, we would have to say no. The Nodal Ninja's have screw holes whereas the Sunwayfoto has a screw on top and Arca Swiss below. In order that we may further assist you, please write telling us what you wish to do. sales@bhphoto.com.

Q: 6. Looks like 7 adjustment knobs - are these all necessary? What do they adjust and do they get cold or are they rubberized?

A: Yes, there are a lot of knobs and they all have a purpose. The top big knob locks the heads tilt. The lower big knob locks the main arm in position. Usually the arm is upright, but for storage or travel, you can invert the main arm. On the base, the medium knob is the pan lock. The smallest knob, when engaged, is an ingenious click-stop which will aid greatly when doing panoramas. On the main arm there is a knob to lock in the L bracket. You can remove the L bracket and then directly mount your camera if it has its own L bracket. On the bottom of the Fotopro L bracket is a knob for locking the Arca Swiss plate. Finally, on the L bracket is a knob that attaches the pan handle. As a former movie camera operator, the pan handle is what you need for "BIF" or following a "Bird In Flight." The knobs are metal and because when it is cold you are likely wearing gloves, their being metal should not be an issue. If you like a high degree of control I would say this head is for you.

Q: 7. Will removal of the top clamp allow for the use of the standard 3/8" screw and thus ballhead (directly on the rotator vs through the clamp)?

A: Yes this is possible. Though it has a 1/4 20 screw and you would need a 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing like the one linked here to do this. https://bhpho.to/2PojBNL. Alternatively if you have no need for the clamp, the base can be purchased individually at the link here. https://bhpho.to/3d5eGcI. Ideally one should pan from the top of the Ballhead as opposed to from the base. The top of the head would need to be perfectly vertical to get a level pan from the base. When panning from the top this is not an issue.

Q: 8. How can I change on the DDP-64M the top male 1/4-20 to a male 3/8 for use my female 3/8 ball head attachment?

A: The Sunwayfoto DDP-64M Indexing Rotator has a 3/8"-16 thread size. The 1/4"-20 is the adapter. It will fit onto a 3/8"-16 female.

Q: 9. Can the handle be removed?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. Can you mount a regular ball head to the top of the DDP-64SI?

A: If you used a bushing converter to change the top mounting to 3/8", you could mount a ballhead to the top of this rotator.
