Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is P1000 compatible with the Ronin-S?

A: The P1000 would be child's play for the Ronin-S so yes it is compatible. However, the Ronin-S is meant for bigger cameras and so you will probably find the Ronin-S with the P1000 is overkill. You might consider instead the Moza AirCross Gimbal Kit with Thumb Controller and Dual Handgrip B&H # MOAIRCROSSTH (B&H Kit) It is a better weight match.

Q: 2. What tripod is best for this heavy camera? I have Bald Eagles behind our home and that is where I would use this camera most often. Thanks

A: Most tripods should work as long as you have one with the proper weight limit. For trying to photograph them in flight, I would recommend a ball head at bare minimum.

Q: 3. Does Nikon P1000 support RAW image format?

A: According to Nikon's Website, Yes. Both Raw & JPEG.Also P1000 specs are on the nikon website.

Q: 4. I own a P900 & noticed that the P1000 will not have GPS, which I find useful. It also weighs over a pound more than the P900?

A: Vs the P900, the P1000 has:4K, RAW, Bluetooth, Mic Jack, is 3 years newer and has a much longer telephoto. (the big selling point)Apparently, Nikon feels that it gave things people wanted and took away GPS in exchange. I think GPS should have stayed as well.

Q: 5. this should do well for landscape photos...moon shots..but what about Christmas lights and fireworks? tracking aircraft like at an airshow?

A: The new Nikon DF-M1 Dot Sight may be the answer for these types of shots

Q: 6. Maximum aperture is given as f2.8-8. Whats the MINIMUM aperture? (For my Canon SX-50 HS, it's f8.)

A: The minimum aperture is F/8 .

Q: 7. The tripos socket broke out of my Nikon Coolpix P900 because it is plastic and it was not positioned in the middle of the camera. Has this been corrected in the P950?

A: They did position the tripod socket in the center with the P950 but regarding how strong the tripod socket is, that I don't see any mention in the specs unfortunately. I would recommend using a tripod that has a long quick release plate that would hold the camera completely from the back to the front. For example this one comes with a long plate. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1432994-REG/manfrotto_mvkbfrl_liveus_befree_live_aluminum_lever_lock.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 8. Shooting mode timelapse is record at 4K resolution or 1080p?

A: We are not sure yet for the camera and it's information has not been fully released yet. However, we feel that that you will be able to select 4K when you are doing time lapse.

Q: 9. Can this camera take a 4x5 film back? Description says Digital and Analog

A: Yes, it can take a 4x5 film back.

Q: 10. Is the raw film compatible with Lightroom?

A: Yes it is with the latest version of Lightroom
