A: The center column is reversible, so you can reverse it and use your camera in an upside down position. These accessories are only 4.7 long, and will permit the tripod to be set to a very low height.

A: I use the Acratech Leveling Base 1117 with 3/8" stud. It's low profile and adequate for my needs as well as relatively affordable.

A: You can attach Benro GH2 Aluminum Gimbal Head directly to Gitzo GT3533LS tripod. To level you can just raise or lower two of the legs of the tripod.

A: At full extension with a head and camera, the Viewfinder might be a little higher than your eye, but the height is adjustable so no problem getting it perfect for you height. With regard to backpacking with it, its folded length is 26.4". With a head attached that would exceed 30". . . . a little long for a long trek.
