Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will it fit with leica m5?

A: Yes, there is no need to be concerned about clearance with the meter cell in the M5. I use this lens on my CL, which has the same meter design and clearances. FYI, Stephen Gandy, who is an acknowledged expert on all things Leica and Voigtlander, states that all Voigtlander lenses will work on all Leicas without a problem. My experience with many of their lenses confirms this. The lens itself is one of my favorites, and I recommend it very highly. I hope this has been of help!

Q: 2. What can you say about a critic of this lens by Ken Rockwell?

A: Don't pay too much attention to KR.This lens is pretty good. On film cameras, he's right that you'd prefer to use it on any camera with 40mm grid lines (I bought it for the Leica CL.) On modern digital mirrorless cameras, it's a good lens. On a modern leica, you can probably afford a better lens.

Q: 3. Will this fit on a bessa r3a?

A: Yes, the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 M-Mount lens will be compatible with a Voigtlander Bessa R3A, as this camera has a bayonet type M mount.

Q: 4. What is the difference between these two models which are priced almost identically (one is 10 cents more) but have different parts numbers: 801103 and 801104?

A: The 801103 has a tension controled screw knob to apply/release the quick release plate to the head with, vs the 801104 which features a flip-lock type of switch to apply and release the quick release plate with.

Q: 5. Is this Z1+?

A: I have the z1 sp and it looks the same as the one you have. I understand that the z1+ is a more recent version of the z1 with double panning capability. It is marked with the z1+ designation on the same side of the head as the one you show, so I would think that yours is not the z1+ version. No doubt there would be a price premium for the z1+ version.

Q: 6. Can this separately control the axis' as the Monoball Z2+?

A: There are separate locks for both panning axes on the Arca-Swiss Monoball Classic Z1g+ Ball Head, so you would be able to control the panning axes on the ball head independently from one another.

Q: 7. Do you ship to Dublin Ireland?

A: Yes we do. You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location.

Q: 8. How will this fit with the Gitzo Travelers 1 Series tripod. It seems the diameter of the ball head base is almost 3/4 inches bigger than the tripod center column

A: I use this head on a Manfrotto 3444 carbon fiber tripod. It's bigger than the mounting platform but works well.It is a heavy ball mount but the lighter promaster dropped a $30K camera in the rocks.

Q: 9. Is it compatible with a Manfrotto 190 Go?

A: yes, its compatible, i use with my manfrotto tripod

Q: 10. Is it compatible with a Manfrotto BeFree Carbon fibre tripod? and what camera plate should I get with this for a Canon 7D mark II and Canon 5D mark III?

A: One of the fortunate things in the world of photography regarding tripods with removable heads, they are held on by universal 3/8 screw studs. Therefore, this superb ball head will mount on the Manfrotto BeFree without issue. As to camera plates, we recommend L- Brackets as the wiser choice. This allows you to move the camera 90 without moving the ball head position. This saves a lot of unnecessary repositioning work. We suggest these affordable L Brackets. Other options include those by Really Right Stuff and Kirk. For the 7D Mark II, Sunwayfoto PCL-7DIIR L Bracket for Canon 7D Mark II DSLR B&H # SUPCL7DIIR. For the 5D Mark III, Sunwayfoto PCL-5DIIIR L Bracket for Canon 5D Mark III DSLR B&H # SUPCL5DIIIR.
