A: Depends on the type of action. I have found the VC (Vibration Control) and focus to be extremely quick and accurate. The captures are sharp for hand held as long as you use a good tight shooting position. For sports action I would use a monopod. But I am very happy with my lens.

A: The quality of the glass in the SP 150-60mm Di VC USD is phenomenal. Mine is tack sharp to the point that I am hand holding it while shooting birds in the Spring. The only differences that I see are that they've improved the auto focus a little and weather sealed the unit better. I've gotten my lens a little wet, (not drenched), and it fared just fine. I've found zero issues with the auto focus. I'd probably save the money and get the cheaper lens as I don't see enough to make me spend the extra $$ to get the generation 2 lens.

Q: 5. You answered the question about the 1.4ext and auto focus but if I use MF on a tripod will the 1.4 and 2x canon extenders work properly using the 5D III. Thanks

A: The Canon extenders are only compatible with a select number of Canons pro level telephoto lenses; they are not compatible with lenses from other manufacturers such as the Tamron 150-600mm. A: I use this on my D7100, but the 5500 has the same mount and I believe the same sensor, so there is no reason it wouldn't work just fine. Best tele lens on the market at this price point!!

A: I use a D300 and it works great and I see no reason that it will not work well on D70. I have found that it works best on a tripod.
