The Countryman E6i Omnidirectional Microphone is a miniature earset microphone for virtually invisible operation in stage performances, trade shows, houses-of-worship, auctions, lectures and much more.

The omnidirectional version is most common in applications where feedback issues are not very likely. The microphone can be worn without a windscreen as the omnidirectional capsule provides excellent wind noise rejection.

The E6i is set apart from the original E6 with its softer flexible boom and silicon ear-pads. The flexible boom provides ease of boom adjustability to accommodate multi-user applications.

A wide variety of colors and connections are available for use with various wireless transmitters. This version is cocoa and features a Switchcraft TA4-Female connector for Toa transmitters.

A miniature omnidirectional capsule is mounted to a low-profile, flexible frame with silicon ear pads. This lightweight, unobtrusive design is available in various colors that virtually render the entire microphone invisible against the skin.

The included 1mm Diameter Cable detaches from the actual headset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy, as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate various wireless transmitters.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is most effective in minimizing wind noise, plosives (popping) and handling noise. The flexible boom provides a custom fit for multiple users and close microphone positioning while minimizing off-axis noise. The E6i is also available in a cardioid version for maximum off-axis noise rejection in environments with high feedback and noise.

This E6i sensitivity response is optimized to accurately capture general speech without noise and distortion.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This or videomic pro+ for outdoor recording? Run and gun style. And which picks sounds better from far distance. 2m

A: No it is not for Run and Gun. This mic will pick up to about 61/2'.

Q: 2. Can you output via analog and charge at the same time via USB? I just tried this and it doesn't output any sound while charging over USB.

A: Yes, the VideoMic NTG can be charged while you are using it and you can simultaneously power the mic and charge it with a USB battery pack.

Q: 3. I would like to use Rode Videomic NTG with wireless go. Be it for interview or for podcast. How to connect NTG with wireless go (either on a table or on hand)?

A: You could connect the cable from the NTG mic into the 3.5mm of the Rode Wireless Go transmitter, and make this shotgun mic wireless. For handheld use, I would recommend the Rode PG1 - Pistol Grip Shock Mount for Shoe Mounted Microphones, BH #ROPG1 and the Vello V-Rig 4.1" Triple Shoe Bracket BH #VECB415.

Q: 4. is this microphone made only for JVC cameras, it looks lie it would be handy for my canon c100?

A: It is a standard XLR Mic so it will work with any XLR input camera. Better sound than the internal mic on my camera.

Q: 5. is this suitable for the old version, videomic pro ?

A: No it is not. Ue the Rode DeadCat VMPR Artificial Fur Wind Shield, B&H # RODEADCTVMPR: https://bhpho.to/3BPOr52

Q: 6. What is the rated distance range from the mic to the subject, and how do the VideoMic NTG and VideoMic Pro+ compare in that respect? The NTG seems well-suited for near-range subjects such as an in-office zoom meeting with laptop, but how far away can they capture clear audio? Thanks.

A: In general, most all shotguns have a maximum quality pickup range of 1-3 feet from the audio source. This would apply to both the NTG and VideoMic Pro+. Both are great sounding microphones, with the NTG offering a bit more versatility in terms of usb and smartphone connections.

Q: 7. I'm gonna use mic to record typing keyboard sound do you thing this or VideoMic Pro Plus works better?

A: The above would depend on the type of keyboard that is being used (the keys of some keyboards are louder than others), as well as the position of the microphone (the distance of the microphone to the keyboard/typist) and the input gain/volume setting of your microphone or camera. Both microphones should work fine for your stated usage needs as long as the microphone is close enough to the keyboard and the gain volume is set correctly. This should be easily managed if your camera or recorder has volume levels or allows you to monitor the sounds recorded by the microphone. Both options listed above a re good microphones and should work for your needs,

Q: 8. can i use this with my panasonic hc-x1000?

A: Should work as the HC-X1000 offers the requisite XLR phantom power.

Q: 9. What is the part number of a deadcat I can purchase for use with the Zoom M3?

A: Zoom has confirmed that the Zoom HWS-6 Hairy Windscreen (BH #ZOHWS6) will fit the Zoom M3 MicTrak Stereo Shotgun Microphone and Recorder.

Q: 10. Does the plug-in power from camera actually power the mic even after the mic battery dies?

A: This microphone will not use Plug-in power, but the battery expectancy is 30 hours, and you can charge while you use it. So, if you have a backup USB battery pack that can be used in the field.
