Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How would this guide work for advice on the Z6 II? He has a new book about the Z6 II but it costs $40. I don't think there is that much difference between the 2 versions of Z6

A: This will be good for giving you general information on the camera as well as some detailed information. There are some differences between the cameras in terms of features and menu settings and layout. So there will be something's that aren't addressed or can be confusing when using this book. That being said, for the most part this book will be a very useful resource for using the Z6 II. Additionally the book for the Z6 II is not available in print yet. If you need something now, this is the one to get.

Q: 2. Does this book go through the Custom Setting Menus?

A: David D. Busch Nikon Z 5 Guide to Digital Photography goes through the custom settings menus.

Q: 3. How can the exterior dimensions be 17 x 22" when on the inside it can hold 17 x 22" photo images and artwork ? Shouldn't the inside or interior dimensions be 17 x 22"?

A: This has been corrected. These are now listed as the interior dimensions.

Q: 4. how to set up your histogram in preview?

A: Under "Information Display", you can choose what displays to see, including Histogram.

Q: 5. Would Busch's guide on the Z6 also be good for the Z6 II ? I don't think the 2 cameras are that different, and Busch has a new book on the Z6 II that costs $40.

A: I do believe the Nikon Z6 and the Nikon Z6 II are similar enough to where you may get benefit using the older book for the newer camera. However, there may be some autofocus, intervalometer, and video features that were released with the newer camera may be better explained in the newer book designed specifically for the Z6 II. That being said, if you are on a budget, this book may still be beneficial for your usage needs.

Q: 6. Is the R6 Mark 2 covered in this book?

A: The David D. Busch Canon EOS R5/R6 Guide to Digital Photography does not cover the upgraded menus and specs of the Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera. The 2nd generation of the Canon EOS R6 (Mark II) was released after the book was published. However, most of the menus between both cameras are exactly the same, therefore the book will board most of the topics between both cameras.

Q: 7. It is confusing. It mentions the book is a soft cover and on the other hand, it says it is a e-book, PDF format...Before I order I would like to make sure that it is the book + DVDs. Thank you.

A: You get a soft cover book with 208 pages in full color, together with the DVD of 7 hours of instructional video

Q: 8. Good for info on shooting flat and MLUTS? I'm looking at this book and Doug Jensen's Master Class on Vimeo. I'm basically trying to figure out which one to buy as I don't need or want both. I'd rather buy the less expensive book if it has the info I need. What I'm really looking for is some clarification on Cine EI and S-Log and it's function, MLUTs and Look Profiles and scene files and how they operate. I've been working with Sony cameras for a long time. Most of the operation is all very familiar to me, but I'm new to shooting flat and I don't really understand how one thing affects another when it comes to MLUTS and s-log, etc. Any help in making a decision would be greatly appreciated.

A: Hey Brad,Basically I was in the same boat as you, I know Sony cameras inside and out but was new to a camera that shot s-log and had the ability to show a client an MLUT on a monitor so they weren't looking at a flat, unflattering and washed out image that no matter how much you tell them won't look like that when you've finished adding a LUT. Dougs book is great especially when you are out in the field and you need a quick refresher, something you can't do with the video presentation that he also has. I also like the fact that at the end of each chapter Doug, gives his own personal recommendations which really do help. He really is able to break down the camera within each chapter and write it in a way that you automatically understand. Lastly Brad, this FS7 camera comes with way more menu options than even I thought it did and Doug breaks down what every single thing means. He also let's you know how many mbps each shooting style records at. I would definitely recommend this book to you or a friend. Good luck and enjoy the camera, I bloody love it!

Q: 9. I just converted a camera for Infrared (IR) photography. Does this book go into editing IR photographs?

A: I don't see anything in the book regarding IR photography editing.

Q: 10. Can you quickly look up specific areas in the book (Is there a search function)?

A: Yes. Plus there's a link to the Index which at times is more helpful.
