The Tiffen 58mm Black Diffusion/FX 1/4 Filter diffuses strong light entering the lens and produces a glowing effect. While the resulting image appears softer and ethereal, there is little loss of clarity or detail. This filter works by diffusing the light entering the lens with small aberrations; by spreading the light more evenly, a soft glow is created rather than the sharp, well-defined image when shooting without a filter. This filter has a 1/4 density, providing the least amount of softening.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Kendo Tele convert 1.4

A: I have the TC 1.4 but rarely use it. Definitely softens the image. I find I get better results cropping than using the TC1.4. Perhaps the Nikon TC would be better but haven't tried it.

Q: 2. Is this lens compatible with Nikon D3400?

A: Yes, the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5.6-6.3 Di VC USD lens is compatible with the D3400.

Q: 4. Will the SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon by Tamron fit on a Nikon D90

A: The SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon would be compatible with the Nikon D90, yes.

Q: 5. Is there a one to one comparison of this lens vs the Sigma 150-600mm f/5.6-6.3 somewhere on B&H (i.e. actual users who have experience with both lenses, rather than online detailed technical reviews)?

A: Not really, no. While each lens has a Reviews tab where customers who own the lens in question may post their review or experience with the lens, we do not have a side-by-side comparison from customers, and most people do not purchase both lenses. If you wish, you may purchase the lenses to do you own comparison, or you may use a rental website such as a href= http://lensrentels.com target= _blank lensrentels.com/a to see if they have both options available. Otherwise, you would have to use Google to search for reviews from users who have used both lenses, but we have no one spot on our website designed for this usage other than the Reviews tab on the lens' webpage.

Q: 6. Will this lens work with a Nikon D3300?

A: Yes it will. This lens is compatible with the Nikon D3300.

Q: 7. Can I purchase a 2 visual back. I have a 2 Crayford as well as 2 eyepieces? Thanks.

A: The optical tube on the NextStar Evolution 8 is the standard Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope that Celestron has been selling for years with other types of mounts. So, 2 eyepieces and other attachments should work as well on the Evolution as they do on the other 8 Celestron SCTs makes and sells. The only thing you should keep in mind is the clearance between the back of the SCT tube and the base of the mount. It might limit your choices to accessories.

Q: 8. Is this a G2 version of the lens?

A: No, this Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Nikon is the original version.

Q: 9. What does the Tamron 150 x 600 lens weigh? I love it, but seems heavy

A: The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Canon, B&H # TA1506005C, weighs 4.30 lb (1.95 kg).

Q: 10. Can I use this lens with a teleconverter and a D3200

A: You may use the Tamron 150-600mm with a teleconverter and D3200, however, you will lose autofocus.
