A: With our radio background we have learned and experienced that, electronic equipment that are exposed to smoke especially tobacco after a long term exposure start to overheat afecting its performance and shortening its productive live. The smoke creates a coating inside the electronic equipment accumulating dust, which causes heat. It goes to say that the 416 is a rugged mic built to resist moisture, bumps and other mistreatment maybe the manufacturer took the smoke into consideration too.

A: The Mkh 416 we bought from B&H came with the mz415 windscreen which in my opion works great!! We added the auray windshield for those heavy windy days. But believe me the mz415 gets us through most of our talking head interviews. Pair it with the rycote universal mount and your ready. The key to any boom operator is his or her abllity NOT to bump or twist the pole as to not pick up any un wanted bass from the pole.Cheers to this mic it is great in the hands of a good operator.
