Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. hi. i do not see that it has an handle so how can it be used for video photography to pan and tilt?

A: The head on this tripod is strictly designed for still photography.

Q: 2. Can you insert the center column upside down with the camera below?

A: This tripod comes with a separate short center column for low profile shooting.

Q: 3. Can the legs lock in a narrow position? like I would put this behind a desk where the legs cant be spread out all the way

A: Im not optimistic that you would be able to do so. The minimum locking angle of the legs is about 30 degrees. A bit of trigonometry would allow you to calculate the spread of the tripod with legs extended. Not the answer you necessarily were seeking but hope it helps.

Q: 4. Has anyone used this with a Canon 5D mark iii?

A: Yes, I own a 5d Mark III and 7d II. I have shot both while usuing this with no problem, even with a 100-400 attached

Q: 5. What is it's height of this tripod when the center column is not extended and only the legs are?

A: The height of the Davis & Sanford TR654C-36 Traverse Carbon Fiber Grounder Tripod is 53 inches without the center column extended.

Q: 6. What quick release plate will fit this ball head?

The monitor on my desk sits too high to mount a camera on top of in my opinion. I prefer to look into my webcam at about eye level. This compact, simple tripod does the trick! With everything set up at full extension, the eye of my webcam sits a little higher than the integrated camera on my old 15.6 wide bezel laptop screen. I mounted my tripod mountable webcam to the threaded stud on top. It tightens up nice and snug. The legs just pull out to extend and are in 3 sections. They stay put once extended without worry of collapsing. You can gain a little extra height by drawing the 3 legs in toward each other so that they make a smaller imaginary circle on your desktop (as opposed to being at full spread). As the tripod gets broken in, the legs can have a tendency to slide out into full spread if the angle is strong enough. In such cases I put a paper weight or my keyboard in front of 2 of the legs to keep them in place. This is a fully adjustable, compact, lightweight, reasonably priced, good quality product!

This is really a fabulous tripod.  A carbon fiber tripod that goes up to 68” with a load capacity or 18 lbs, and folds down to 19” is amazing.  I love it.  It comes in a great case.

Have been looking for a light weight Tripod, that would handle my Sigma 150-600mm Lens. And this is the One!!! Also a very good price. I would highly recommend Davis & Sanford Traverse Carbon TR684C-36

Owned it for 2 years. Is it the best period ? Probably not, but for a fraction of the cost, it is SO worth the $. Put it this way, for my types of shooting {often longer exposure, and always bracketed sets for HDR processing} it is just about as important a piece of equipment, as is my camera. Also, I do a lot of hiking with it (not using the case.. great case for storage and transport though) so mine has seen its share of bumps and bangs, but it is holding up great :) Days out in the field in 2 years; about 200.

Highly recommended.

I have 2 much larger tripods and was shopping for a lighter extra tripod for when I'm running multiple cameras. This isn't as solid as my larger Gitzo legs and AccraTech head but seems well made and quite well engineered at about an eighth the price. Impressive!

I purchased this tripod because I am sucker for a good deal on a great tripod. It was on sale for $80.00. This is designated as a travel tripod because it folds up to a small size. However, with the legs fully extended it is six feet tall. And, it come with a carrying case.

I received my tripod in time for snow and ice in NJ. The tripod functioned flawlessly, even soaked with freezing cold water...(much better than I did). The ball head is much different than I'm use to but locks everything up tightly. I'm using a Canon 5DRs with several lenses in both portrait & landscape mode. One of the few products I haven't found anything to complain about yet.I had to wait for it but I think it was time well spent.I ordered it directly from D&S because I needed it for a trip, which it didn't come for.. :((sorry B&H... I cheated on you..)
