Record or stream an HDMI signal via USB 3.0 with the Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2. With its HDMI v1.4a input, this capture device will accept resolutions up to 1920 x 1200p60. If you need to stream or record at a certain resolution, the USB Capture HDMI will internally up- or down-covert the input signal to the set resolution. It can also perform frame rate conversion and deinterlacing in real time with its own hardware, taking the processing load off your computer's CPU.

Because the USB Capture HDMI uses the existing drivers on your computer, the capture device will work with any software that supports those drivers. If you don't have a USB 3.0 port available, the USB Capture HDMI will work with a USB 2.0 port, although the resolution and frame rate capabilities will be reduced due to the restricted bandwidth.

Supports up to 1920 x 1200p60 Resolution    Hardware Scaling and Deinterlacing    Performs Frame Rate Conversion    Plug-and-Play Using Existing Drivers    Backward Compatible with USB 2.0    Onboard RAM for Stream Buffering

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a recommended replacement cable for this device? Can't seem to find the Magewell USB by itself.

A: Please check the accessories tab under this product for recommended replacement cables. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1105735-REG/magewell_xi_100_d_usb_hdmi_one_hd_hdmi_usb.html/accessories

Q: 2. Will this capture device work with the BlackMagic ATEM switcher?

A: Guess it does. It just converts a video signal from HDMI to USB3.

Q: 3. Does anyone know if it will record using Corel Videostudio software?

A: Magewell does not list Corel as compatible. However you would be able to capture through different software and edit within Corel.

Q: 4. I am using the zoom teleconferencing software. Will one of these ran from my Macbook pro to the Atem Television Studio switcher work? To where you see all of the people or will it work to where you see only one person through the magwell?

A: This is a single input HDMI capture device. It will see whatever input you send it out of the HDMI Output. It is compatible with Zoom as well, but is only see the input it is given. Seeing the other individual on the screen would be done through Zoom software itself.

Q: 5. Can I use this card to record from a Roland VR-3EX audio and video mixer directly on my notebook Dell iCore 7, with video card of 2gb and 8gb of ram, through USB 3.0 port, in up to 1280 resolution image?

A: I think your proposed setup should work. I've used my Magewell to capture audio and video from a camcorder HDMI output, and it's worked very well in that application, even on a much less powerful laptop than the one you're using. My capture software (VLC and Gstreamer, running on GNU/Linux) sees the Magewell's output as ordinary USB audio/video.

Q: 6. Windows 10 isn't listed in the specs. Has anyone tried this with Windows 10?

A: I have and it works

Q: 7. Will this save files to PC computer with H.264 video format?

A: Depending on the software you're using during capture, you will be able to define the codec you choose when saving files.

Q: 8. Is it possible to stream (WebEx cam) and record at the same time?

A: We do, there is a slight lag in the live stream though

Q: 9. Will this work as an input with Quicktime's movie recording feature?

A: Yes it will. The Magewell HDMI USB 3.0 Capture Dongle is compatible with Mac OS and both the Quicktime Broadcaster and Quicktime Player.

Q: 10. Any lip synch issues if Magewell goes into USB 3.0 port and my audio-mixer goes into mic input of my laptop?I would like Magewell to down-convert my full HD video from my GH5 to a smaller video (like 480x270 or thereabouts) before sending it to my laptop. So I'm thinking, this could make the laptop receive video slower than it is receiving audio.

A: Yea I believe it will work great it is a wonderful device for recording!

Nothing much to say about it other than it works as intended. It's very small and easy to travel with.

This dongle was the secret to connecting my Canon C70 to my iMac to allow livestreaming. B&H customer service recommended this to me (I had tried many other devices to include the Camlink, but none of them worked).

100% worth the cost. I got this specifically to live cast dance recitals and Ice shows via the Zoom application. Doing a private password protected cast, you don't have to worry about copyright algorithms shutting down your feed. How it works, crazy simple: plug it in and let it do it's thing for a bit, it automatically downloads/calibrates to your system. Then plug into the camera you want to use, launch zoom and assign your video and audio to the device (it is listed in your options when calibrated to your system) and away you go. Worked flawlessly with zoom. I used this with my 2013 MacBook Pro with BigSur OS, connected to a Canon XF300 via HDMI- and it worked flawlessly in an Ice Rink (rather cold that...) for two full shows about 2 hours each. Thank you Magewell for an excellent product!
